the lesser evil would probably be someone doing the better good, from my British perspective Donald Trump is a monstrous and disturbing figure who will create a lot of wars and spread hate.

Speaking of a "monstrous and disturbing figure".....

Read post #51.

The US isn't a theocracy. There are no Christian candidates. What we are voting for is freedom for the Church to survive, thrive and do Her work. One candidate will allow that to happen, and one is far less likely to allow the Church Her freedom.

Vote for the sake of my family, if you won't vote for the sake of yourself.

Exactly.

I've prayed about this and feel that I must do everything I can to keep Hillary Clinton out of office. To me, that means voting for someone with a real chance of beating her in the general election. Trump is the only one who can do that, so I will be voting for Trump. He's far from perfect but he appears to be the only one who can have a positive impact on the future for our children and grandchildren. I'm thinking about many things that are out of control in this country that Donald Trump has promised to address. Most know what I'm thinking, so I won't bore you with the details.

So you're saying that if we aren't smart enough to elect someone else, we'll continue to experience exactly what we have at present??

Really? I'm pretty sure it has not made any(or much if any) difference(toward 'good') in over one hundred years.....

Not following you.

What has not made any difference?

Same here.

And i continue praying at this most dire and pivotal time.

I am greatly disturbed and at odds as to how to resolve this issue. This election in November has been characterized by American voter's as a choice between "two evils". Should Christians be voting in such an election ? Wouldn't we be voting for "Evil" in either circumstance ?...

I've heard plenty of CF members express their conviction to vote for one or the other of the candidates. I did the same a few weeks ago, but now as the election draws nearer, my conscience is saying NO. I seriously don't believe I can walk into an election booth and pull a lever in support of someone who represents something that is patently "evil".

So for the first time in my adult life, I have decided I WILL NOT CAST ANY VOTE.

What do you think ?!
I am English so my view I suppose is a nutural one, myself not knowing much about either candidate. However I do know media plays a lot in these things and it is hard to know what is truth and what is not regarding the media. All I know is it does tell us in the bible to pray for our leaders. We do need leaders. My advice would be to ask the Lord who to vote for or if to vote for ot all.

On election day, 99 vote for you.
100 vote for me.

I'm seriously concerned that I'm being tricked into supporting "Evil" in this world either way I choose, and I'm wondering if this choice isn't synonymous with taking the Mark of the Beast.

In a figurative sense, a man's forehead in Bible symbolism refers to "thoughts", or "beliefs", while the "right hand" is indicative of the "work of one's own hand".

I definitely do not want to receive the mark ! So I guess I won't be pulling a lever for either candidate this election.

No authentic Christian will ever receive that mark.

Does God stand for evil?

Are His people to speak out against evil?

Are His people to allow evil to continue and grow even more emboldened to kill innocents, and not only that, but to sell these babies body parts?

We stand back and allow evil to proliferate?

Are you aware of where it is written in God's Word to speak out for and defend those who cannot speak out for, and defend themselves?

Their blood cries out to God, just like Abel's did.

Should more of these most helpless ones be slaughtered?

It is also written that what we do to the least of these, we do to Jesus Christ Himself, is it not?

God repeats throughout His Word that He finds the slaughter of the innocent abominable.

Remember where it is written what God Himself emphasizes what He hates?

But does that change the date set for Christ's return? Will it change a single name in the Lamb's Book of Life?

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -- 2 Corinthians.
no, but it will surely change what you and your neighbors have to endure until that time comes.

I was talking to some other Christians and politics came up as it sometimes does. I said who I would vote for and was basically overrun by them in seconds and said I would be going against Christianity if I voted for this person.

The destruction of the U.S. Supreme Court and the federalization of law enforcement hangs in the balance.

It was be ludicrous to vote for Hillary because of her crimes. Not only that, it could also be dangerous to the country. The reverse situation also equally apllies.

The OP has a problem with voting for lesser of two evils, not choosing a candidate. In other words, s/he already knows both candidates are stained in whatever way; it begs the question of whether or not those stains are enough to overlook.

I would personally abstain from voting, or write my own name in. If you vote, you also take responsibility for that decision and what it means. You don't get to say, "I didn't know!" if the lesser of two evils (in your opjnion) becomes decidedly evil. You participated in electing the person, and so elections and voting needs to be take seriously also.

Someone like the OP should abstain IMO. If you already think it is a choice between two evils then you would be responsible for bringing an evil into office by voting. Sometimes inaction can prove to be more effective depending on the circumstances. And, Christians especially shouldn't even be this involved in politics and the trajectory of the world. Didn't Christ Himself say that this world belongs to something else for now? Unless you are aligned with that something else, helping to develop its world should not be a psychological or spiritual priority.

.......and if you don't vote, you also take responsibility for that decision and what it means.

I have advocated for 60 years or so that we stop calling them "leaders" in the USA. They are elected representatives, put in place to enforce the will of the people. In any event, one of them desires to continue to lead us into deeper socialism while excluding God --- that is not the will of the authentic Christian.
