I am greatly disturbed and at odds as to how to resolve this issue. This election in November has been characterized by American voter's as a choice between "two evils". Should Christians be voting in such an election ? Wouldn't we be voting for "Evil" in either circumstance ?...

I've heard plenty of CF members express their conviction to vote for one or the other of the candidates. I did the same a few weeks ago, but now as the election draws nearer, my conscience is saying NO. I seriously don't believe I can walk into an election booth and pull a lever in support of someone who represents something that is patently "evil".

So for the first time in my adult life, I have decided I WILL NOT CAST ANY VOTE.

What do you think ?!

We have an obligation (and a precious opportunity) to decide on our government and that which our neighbors will live under as well. And when something is said about "evils," remember that cursing is evil and murder is also evil, but they aren't equals.

The government was dissolved in its 1933 bankruptcy. You speak as if you are unaware of that fact.

Speaker-Rep. James Traficant, Jr. (Ohio) addressing the House:

"Mr. Speaker, we are here now in chapter 11.. Members of Congress are official trustees presiding over the greatest reorganization of any Bankrupt entity in world history, the U.S. Government. We are setting forth hopefully, a blueprint for our future. There are some who say it is a coroner’s report that will lead to our demise.

It is an established fact that the United States Federal Government has been dissolved by the Emergency Banking Act, March 9, 1933, 48 Stat. 1, Public Law 89-719; declared by President Roosevelt, being bankrupt and insolvent. H.J.R. 192, 73rd Congress m session June 5, 1933 - Joint Resolution To Suspend The Gold Standard and Abrogate The Gold Clause dissolved the Sovereign Authority of the United States and the official capacities of all United States Governmental Offices, Officers, and Departments and is further evidence that the United States Federal Government exists today in name only."

I'm seriously concerned that I'm being tricked into supporting "Evil" in this world either way I choose, and I'm wondering if this choice isn't synonymous with taking the Mark of the Beast.

In a figurative sense, a man's forehead in Bible symbolism refers to "thoughts", or "beliefs", while the "right hand" is indicative of the "work of one's own hand".

I definitely do not want to receive the mark ! So I guess I won't be pulling a lever for either candidate this election.

I was talking to some other Christians and politics came up as it sometimes does. I said who I would vote for and was basically overrun by them in seconds and said I would be going against Christianity if I voted for this person.

You misunderstand. Even God has elected evil to establish His own justice.

We have two candidates; one known and one unknown.
What is known about Hillary is that she swore under oath to tell the truth and then lied.
We know that she was so afraid people would her her secret emails that she violated the law and set up her own server. We know that she withheld emails under subpoena and destroyed thousands rather than turn them in as the law requires.
In short, we know that she committed crimes which would have landed anyone else in prison.
We know that electing her would be a continuation of Obummer's failed policies.

We know that Trump is a successful businessman. We know that his experiences with politicians involves buying them and using them to get what he needs. We know that he has no particular loyalty to anyone, and that as a true outsider he will either be able to get real reforms accomplished or he will fall on his proverbial face and be ineffective against the Washington political machine. So Trump is a maybe and Hillary is an Absolutely Not!

Hillary supports the wholesale slaughter of the unborn. Trump does not.
Hillary would appoint radical judges to the Supreme Court, thus erasing any hope of maintaining the Constitution as we know it. Trump will appoint Constitutional originalists.

Neither candidate brings sound moral character to the office.
Neither candidate represents the kind of role model we want for our children. However Trump's failings are more personal sins whereas Hillary's are are felonies. For these reasons, Trump is the only rational choice. If America wanted integrity, they should have supported Huckabee.

Good! Coffee and juice are to the left; eggs and bacon on the right.

Yea, Christ would NEVER tell you you have to vote for two evils. In fact, it isn't our business as Christians to invest in the trajectory of earthly kingdoms or governments. They rise, they fall, and rise again. They corrupt, are corrupted, and corrupt again. The elections, as someone has pointed out, has been a farce for several decades - generally a figurehead who is already chosen, but for the sale of making people feel involved in a democratic process (even though the government isn't a democracy,) is put out with some other impossible candidate.

If you truly think about it, it is a psychological operation in making people more numb and blind to injustice, evil and wrong. For example, now "everyone" knows politicians lie - and laugh about it. That is absolutely scary; people literally giving up to the corruption they are told they put in office!

Don't let anyone or any social paradigm bully you into what you don't want to do. Part of your right to vote is your right to abstain from voting. It isn't like you are picking kickball teammates.

I will probably be out of the country in November and am toying with the idea of voting absentee. Personally, I do not feel compelled to vote for either of the two major party candidates. There are dozens and dozens of other parties with their candidates to choose from. The only reason people feel compelled to vote for one or the other seems to be that they believe that in not doing so they are throwing away their vote. Perhaps that is true, but it is equally true that a message is being sent, small and insignificant as it may seem that at least one voter has found both major party candidates to be repugnant.

Democrats shouldn't vote for president.
Democrats should send a loud and clear message to the corrupt power brokers who stacked the deck in favor of a reprehensible candidate to the exclusion of any rational, morally sound contender. There surely must be a few.
People on both sides need to purge Washington of the Pelosi, Reed and McConnell cartel. When a party can't run a candidate who doesn't violate federal laws or openly espouse socialism, then that party needs a serious overhaul.

The Republican field had way too many candidates and perhaps the most qualified could never get traction. The establishment tried to reject trump but they failed. Maybe Trump will shake things up. Regardless, he won't get a single agenda item through a divided Congress. He's going to have to use his deal making skills to be a good president.

Having watched too many episodes of Mr. Trump's television series I came to the conclusion that his deal-making skills consist primarily in two words, "You're fired!!!" If only life in Washington were that simple.

Good points.

RE: Hillary, there's her mentor (Saul David Alinsky) who was very closely associated with Frank Nitti, who was Al Capone's number two man in the organized crime syndicate.

If any of these names are unfamiliar, it would behoove us to research who they are and any connection to Hillary Clinton.

That is why the OP is asking about voting for the lesser of two EVILS, and whether or not it is right at all to vote for a lesser evil.

I HOPE no one is arguing Hillary or Trump is not an "evil," but rather "their chosen/personal/acceptable evil" when defending them or their actions.

With that rationale, someone with Hillary's criminality wins.

That is contributing to evil and standing back and allowing evil to flourish.

Oh op meant to say I won't be voting either, and haven't voted.
So then you think that God should not have employed evil to establish His own justice, allowing people to vote for who they follow, whether God or Satan?

He can take your vote away, you know.

It was be ludicrous to vote for Hillary because of her crimes. Not only that, it could also be dangerous to the country. The reverse situation also equally apllies.

The OP has a problem with voting for lesser of two evils, not choosing a candidate. In other words, s/he already knows both candidates are stained in whatever way; it begs the question of whether or not those stains are enough to overlook.

I would personally abstain from voting, or write my own name in. If you vote, you also take responsibility for that decision and what it means. You don't get to say, "I didn't know!" if the lesser of two evils (in your opjnion) becomes decidedly evil. You participated in electing the person, and so elections and voting needs to be take seriously also.

Someone like the OP should abstain IMO. If you already think it is a choice between two evils then you would be responsible for bringing an evil into office by voting. Sometimes inaction can prove to be more effective depending on the circumstances. And, Christians especially shouldn't even be this involved in politics and the trajectory of the world. Didn't Christ Himself say that this world belongs to something else for now? Unless you are aligned with that something else, helping to develop its world should not be a psychological or spiritual priority.

Did I say any of that?

But let's not act like God is SLOW, or that He is intellectually impotent. He can put whomever He wants to use in power for whatever reason. He has done it. He did NOT need Hebrew vote, a majority or a quorum to do this. So, saying, "He allows us to vote..." is redundant without realizing the point: you are allowed to do whatever He allows - including evil. But, that does not mean He won't judge you for your actions. If you believe it is a Godly duty of men to vote for other men to rule over them, then that is your call. But, I remember God adminishing the Hebrews for this very thing after they whined about being like the world - having a man king to rule over them.

What I said, meant and insinuated is I wouldn't risk my soul voting for evil just because that is what is done -÷ for tradition. I don't think anyone should. The OP challenges the status quo of blind and compulsive voting based on generations of tradition. I support that.

Read the quote i posted again.

The Bible admonishes us to use the wisdom, discernment, and clarity that God has given us.

To be passive, naive, or withdrawing is enabling evil to prevail.
