Simplified halal is what is permissible for a Muslim to eat, although it goes deeper than this the 2 important parts are don't consume alcohol or pork. There are halal certified programs available to certify products as halal and in Muslim dominate countries many consumables products have this certification even if they are intrinsically halal.

If a Christian produces consumables (let's say for example coffee) and lives in a Muslim dominate country but does not certify the product as halal they will severely cut their market potential. If on the other hand they certify their product as halal they would capitalize their market potential.

is this just business or are there ethical considerations to be considered for a Christian to produce halal certified consumables.

What sin would be associated with this? What is involved in being halal certified?

when it comes to animals a Muslim would have to slaughter the animal in a specific method and it would be blessed by a Muslim. This may be the greatest concern but for products that are intrinsically halal like for example coffee it's just an process of registering a product, they would ensure the product is indeed halal, you pay a fee which then supports Muslim programs, and you get to put on the product that it is halal and Muslims are more comfortable consuming the product.

This isn't any different than kosher meats for Jews.

I wouldn't want to be supporting Muslim programs unless they were all programs that were feeding, clothing, sheltering, or medical care for people.

the money would go to muslim organizations which would be used for any number of things, possibly feeding programs but also building mosques. it wouldn't be advertised and you would have to contact the certified program specifically and inquire with them but even then they probably could not give you a straight answer. Generally speaking it would go toward the muslim faith which would be consider anything supporting the 5 pillars of Islam including helping the poor but would not be isolated.

Then I think it would be up to the individual Christian's conscience, just as kosher should be, just as selling other products, such as beer, contraceptives, types of clothes, etc.
