From the "Good luck with that", files: Ex-Sheriff Joe Arpaio files libel suit against NYT

The claims made in the article, Arpaio says, were “carefully and maliciously calculated to damage and injure” his reputation among the law enforcement community, as well as among GOP donors who could help bankroll his intended run for the late Sen. John McCain’s seat in 2020, currently held by Sen. Jon Kyl.

I’m sure he’ll find someone to pay all his court costs when the judge rules against him.

If the reporting is honest, it is not libel. He may not be able to prove the reporter was testifying falsely. Many people seeking unjust court rewards did not get them. I was on a Federal jury judging an alleged assault lawsuit. The plaintiff did not get one cent.

Some friends were sued for libel by an antiquities dealer accused of selling forged antiques. They did not have to pay a cent, even though the dealer’s reputation was harmed. There was evidence the unprovenanced objects were forged.

A stunt by a criminal.

A criminal pardoned by the greatest President the world has ever seen which in of itself erases any crimes that may have been committed and restores Joe to the tip top of society.
