For those Young Earth Creationists (YEC) who don't know what a supernova is, I point them to the following:

YEC limit God's magnificence when they limit his creative work to six days. On the other hand, Old Earth Creationists (OEC) allow for nature to demonstrate the unlimited wonders of our God. God is not trying to deceive us, he is showing us the vastness of His creation through Jesus. Why would God shows us the light from something He never created in the first place? YEC have to reinvent the physics that has been proven over and over again to get around that one.

The meaning of creation has been discussed.

For example, a new government established tomorrow is NOT a new creation. A new xxx (whatever it is) shows up today or tomorrow is NOT a new creation. This would include any supernova yet to come. They are new, but are not results of new creation.

So, what is left that can be called a NEW creation?

You know what? I thought about this a lot since the last time we talked about it. Now l like to think the spirit of every "new" person may not be "new". However, it does not mean reincarnation. Instead, they are the spirits God has created during the Six Days. Too bad that God does not say anything about it in Genesis 1.

It is just not a right theology if God has to continuously "create" new spirit. When human population was low, God creates them at a slower pace. And now God has to create a million (?) of them each day? No ! It shouldn't be like that. There has to be a better way to handle the situation.

According to this way of understanding, it can also solve the thorny predestination problem of Christians. Yes, God selects us to be Christian before the conception.

This thread is not discussing the meaning of creation, only the timing. If you do not believe in any creation event, that's your decision.

So, is the light from your light bulb a new creation? Because it is brand new.

That view certainly doesn't stem from the Bible, which tells us that the "Father works until now" (John 5:17). Methinks your theology needs rethinking.

You seem to amuse yourself with your own ramblings, but have not addressed the only question this thread asks. Why would God show us light from a non-existent supernova (YEC viewpoint) unless that supernova actually did happen 11 billion years ago (OEC viewpoint)? This is the only question posed here.

God works does not mean God creates. Such as the one you like: God "maintains" or "intervenes". Like God agrees on the tests given to Job; or God sends angels to tell John about the future. Of course He is working all the time. He is listening to all our prayers and answers them.

Well, now we are getting into the nature of God. You may have God do anything and everything at all the time. That may well be your God, but such a character is not a part of my God.

My God is like a King. He sets up the kingdom and instructs His staff how to run the nation. He sits on the throne, but not running around to do everything.

What has God created today? 1200 new souls in Europe, 4500 new souls in Asia, 3 supernovae somewhere out there, and ... and ... . That is ridiculous.

If you search "creation" or "create" in the Scripture, you will get tens of hits. But they are not all talking about the same process or have the same meaning. The creation in Gen 1 is unique. It is not the same as "create" a fetus.
