President Biden shocked viewers of his Friday speech to teachers when he recognized an audience member and told the crowd, “She was 12, I was 30.”

Biden lit up social media with the confounding and seemingly inappropriate aside. He did not say what he did when he was 30 and the woman was a preteen.

“You gotta say hi to me,” Biden said mid-speech at the National Education Association headquarters in DC. “We go back a long way. She was 12, I was 30. But anyway, this woman helped me get an awful lot done.”

Just put this in context. How would you respond if someone was giving a speech to a high school about college opportunities? Then, out of nowhere, he says that he had no idea she was underage when we met, but she was worth it.

I thought the kids rubbing the hairs on his legs was strange (but I don't think necessarily inappropriate...well...maybe today it would be).

Anyway, it could have been an exaggeration. Could have been a family friend. Out of curiosity I'd like to know the context.

I do not think a 79 year old Biden could pick out a 61 year old he knew when she was a 12 year old child.

But it was certainly an unfortunate comment. Had a GOP member said that the Democrats would pounce all over it. I suspect the Republicans will run with this one, even if there is nowhere to go.
