  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Good grief you need a degree to run a library why? .__. I mean the job won't be that easy since theres a lot to keep track of but how much can you truly study?

Technically you don't need a degree to run a library... or to do most anything else you get a degree for...
But it helps to take the library classes so that you can learn some stuff that you need to know. And of course there's all the other stuff you won't learn until you are actually practicing it by doing your job in the library. Also chances are higher that you can get a paying job in a library if you have some degree in it.

I was looking at the Library Science Master's program randomly for fun, and I noticed that it's required there for the one getting the masters in library to have taken a programing class of some sort. I thought that was interesting.

I'm getting this degree because I need an associates degree in anything so that when I transfer to a university I will be Junior status, and be able to focus on my major rather than on all the general ed. It's cheaper that way.
The reason I chose library is because it seems to be more useful than the other two associates degrees I was planinng on getting, though I have recently decided that I want to get those other two degrees as well as it will only take a couple more classes that I already wanted to take to get the extra degrees.

One of the colleges that I attended I worked at the library as a student. That college required a degree in library science to be a librarian.
