I never started a church but what I know is that the person who desires to start a church must be ‘free’ to start one. If you left your church in a wrong way (anger or unforgiveness) you cannot start a new church before you settle what ever is wrong.

It is very important to lay a foundation of prayer. I advice you to enter into a 40 day fast if possible.

Hi Gerry!

I have not personally started a church or been involved in starting a new church but I remember in one of my books from Liberty's IBS programs that one way that a new church was started was through a bible study. Sometimes bible studies begin and by God's grace they begin to grow and eventually they form a church.

This is all I know, but the best source to look is in the Bible. Paul was one of the best church planters there was! So we can look at what he did and refer to the history of the churches he helped build and go from there

Hi Gerry!

I found the book that I was referring to in my previous post. It is "A Practical Encyclopedia of Evangelism and Church Growth" by Elmer Towns. Another way of church planting is to have a "Mother-daughter" church. This is when a bigger or effective church wishes to branch off and appoint some leaders to begin a new church in a area in which it is needed and the two churches work together.

Thanks! I appreciate your help, and you are certainly right about Paul. I also have all the info available through Liberty! Thanks again,. Good advice there too.

I know all the theory, but I was hoping maybe someone had some practical experience in the actual doing of it.

This is excellent advice also, but not a requirement to know God's will in this case. Also this is a difficult thing you suggest and I know you have done this many times. However, for me to do this would require the partnership of someone of your stature spiritually. I have no one of a like mind here, and without the spiritual partnership and encouragement, it would not be feasible for me.

But thanks for this advice. It is good.

Hi Gerry, I suppose the most important thing for me would be the clear leading of God. a vision. a goal. Ive been praying recently (actually for some time now ) that God would lead me to the church he wants me to be at. And only last weekend He gave me firstly such a glimpse of his heart for the body of Christ that he kind of set my heart on fire for 'His bride' and then showed me a building that i didnt recognise. It was only after searching the telephone dictionary and going for a drive that I saw the building He showed me in the vision. I dont know how God speaks to other people but thats how He has led me..so My answer would be a vision and a clear purpose,..debs

Depends of what youre actually asking:
Are u refering to
1: a sattelite group (like a fellowship in my neighbourbood-and not necessarily church affiliated)

or 2: a new gathering in an apostolic sense

or 3: is there a 3?

I have done a little of #1 and learned alot

Have fellowshipped with some who do #2 and got pretty excited about this and would loved to be involved

And I think theres always a little of #2 in a #1

anyway, Im not much of a talker but thanks for asking a Q: your turn............

I see! So the answer is clearly yes. Awesome! Tell me more. How many in the group now. What is the background of this group as for as denomination or affiliation goes. The way you use the term Apostolic makes me curious. But hey, I think this is an incredible opportunity. No wonder you are able to get excited, especially when the 2 is mixed with the 1.
