DO you know this is a Stage forum... and most of the Threads are about Musicals.... actually i think they all are! shock horror! so i thought it was about time that we had a thread to a great playright that everyone knows! Mr William Shakespeare. was he a Sir?? anyway anyone like/loathe Shakespeare? i like him, and i think most of his plays are great. so favourites??

mine in no particular order are:

MacBeth
The Merchant of Venice
Richard III
Romeo and Juliet

Macbeth (which we just finished reading in english class yesterday)

i was talking about shakespeare with my friends at lunch, and none of them think he's amazing and a genius like i do, what do you guys think?

He IS amazing and IS a genius, hence the lil !

I think he's ruined somewhat by being forced to study his work though- Shakespeare is meant for the stage not for the classroom, really...

true, but i dont think that people would appreciate him as much if they dont learn about him and really look at his works, like how you do it in school or w/e

But it can drive some further away. I won't read Shakespeare, normally, unless I'm doing the show, because I have trouble understanding it, so I need it performed to appreciate it, really... I saw Timothy West in King Lear- he was amazing!

i saw the Video of Judi Dench as Lady MacBeth. she was good. and i think SIr Ian McKellan does/did alot of Shakespeare.

Othello (Anyone heard/seen the opera by Verdi? Just as good as the play).

i must say that yes he does have a nice beard... thats what ill grow one like... but, notice the hair is grey and therefore he is OLD!!!
