Not to sound negative --- but I looked up about Shabbat on Aish.com and I was overwhelmed. Shabbat appears to require A LOT more discipline and organization than this old gal possesses. :help: I know it takes a long time to convert to Judaism, and now I think I understand why.

I did find a 'simple' recipe for Challah, though. :)

I've been doing it for a while now and...it's not so hard. Once you understand the idea behind it...it becomes pretty routine. I don't mean routine to sound boring because it is quite an awesome experience. I'm not Jewish nor am I converting but, I do celebrate Shabbat and Havdalah. It's a wonderful tradition and can really help a Christian to understand how awesome it is to be Jewish. It's a beautiful thing.

God Bless...

Most of those of us who remember and keep the Shabbat have grown into it.... and continue to grow..... like all the mitzvot, you start where you are and add observances as you learn them...... you may not be yet able to phathom doing without turning lights off and on, but you can start by separating the day with lighting the candles, having a special meal and avoiding anything related to your weekly job during the Shabbat.......or you are not where you are convicted to set the entire Shabbat off but you can still intentionally set the day apart in some small way and diligently seek to learn more about the how and why of setting it apart, adding to your observance as you grow and learn :)

Don't be hard on yourself or allow what seems like a load of information cause you to walk away feeling "I just can't" - with HaShem's help you can, if you are called to live beside Israel and obey her G-d ;) He is patient with you, be patient with yourself
