Severe Depression

I've had depression for over 20 years but it has recently taken a turn for the worst. I'm not sure what's going on but I've been having these really bad episodes of depression which last a few hours and are 10 times worse. Its even painful to sit down and watch tv.

I've never been in this kind of mental pain before. Please pray for me. Thank you.

Please, seek advice from your doctor my friend. I know what its like. I suffer too with depression and anxiety. 18 years now.

Welcome to CF. I am sorry to hear about your depression. Someone once said Jesus impressed upon her that depression is caused by bringing up the past. He said "let it go". Maybe that will resonate with you. Be blessed.

I fought depression off and on for 20 years or so, but finally overcame it by concentrating on some positives in my life. I also recommend going to a doctor and/or some kind of counselor, be it a pastor or perhaps a close friend. God bless you.

I pray for healing for you from depression.
I find that writing a diary daily of encouraging verses from the Bible helps me and a gratitude prayer every day.
Psalms 94:19
When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.
Dear Father, send your consolation and hold this life together as he seeks more of you in his life.

Sometimes depression is caused by, or at least increased by, things like hypothyroidism and low iron. Perhaps you should research those topics.

Sugar can also be problematic for some. Especially processed sugar.
