Yes, I know what the official definition of the meaning of the word is. Thanks. I am not 5 years old. But everybody on the planet has a worldview or belief system about the creation of the universe, and morals. People who deny God have faith in a belief system that tells them that the Lord our God does not exist. Atheism is it's own belief system or faith. For Evolution (Which is popular with atheists) requires lots and lots and lots of faith despite the evidence refuting it.

I'm saying they don't have enough data to draw the conclusions they are drawing. They are detecting a need for more funding and what better way to get that funding than to announce a new "discovery" .

40 light years is a long way. Even if someone could travel at the speed of light, they wouldn't want to spend 40 years just traveling through space would they? So the whole discussion is sort of pointless.

As for aliens, I think they're there somewhere, and there is no reason to talk of religion in this matter, or of the devil, who is, in some respects, an alien. (or maybe someone better define what an "alien" is).

As for atheists, they must have some idea of what a "god" is, else they wouldn't know what they are rejecting. In other words, to say there is no need for a moral lawgiver, don't you have to concede that the concept is somewhere in your mind?

I heard Stephen Hawking had something like this in mind, that would take approximately 20 years to find out for sure, a thousand postage stamp size probes that could find out for us for sure...

Really amazing, those things revolving around stars. Too bad we don't know how big they are, could be like tennis balls. I can just see Steven Hawking's face, or others if they ever got out there, thinking they were changing planets!

I heard that he was developing it right now, and it would be ready soon, and he's finding "targets" the ones closest and with the most potential to be "earth like" to send them to when it's ready... They can go 1/4 the speed of light...

It wouldn't take long before we could know for sure...

I can't wait to see what they find and find out...

We know how "big" or small they are, their orbits, and possibly their density, but can not know much beyond what that can tell us, (what's on them or what their surfaces are like) without sending an actual probe there...

So there should be no celebrations by atheists as a result of this find whereby they can claim Christians are all wrong now.

In astronomy earth-like means rocky/metallic rather than gaseous and of similar size. It doesn't mean it can support life, much less humans.

And were did you get your thoughts about atheists "celebrating" Christians being wrong? Because I'm inclined to think the source was your imagination.

Try your argument from a scientific perspective...

Which could be...? Earth, this planet, our solar system specifically, our galaxy, are all, each "perfect" ones...

It may require these kinds of "perfect" conditions and circumstances for life to be able to come about on any planet, anywhere... In which case, despite the sheer numbers, we could possibly be the only ones of our kind and very extremely "unique"... There is still the possibility, according to that, that we could be "the only ones" and our planet, is the only planet like it, and we are, the only ones like us, despite the sheer numbers...

I am open to either possibility and can't wait to see what they find... Hope it happens in my lifetime and I am still alive at the time, I would really like to know, for sure...

I would not, and does not change my belief about God in any way...
