The fact that I am a part of the universe that is able to comprehend the universe is beautiful to me.
Oh, my -- you're able to comprehend this universe, are you?

Excuuuse me -- maybe I'd better step aside and let you through.

But be advised, when my now-famous narc buddy, who hates himself, shows up, you're in for some false accusations.

(But then he's pretty selective, so he may not bother you.)

Once again with the passive aggressiveness

All I'm saying is that the universe is beautiful, and I consider it quite great luck that I'm here to witness it.

That was one doosey of a way of saying it.

You must be out of breath, backtracking so far.

Had I said that -- it would probably end up at that alter-ego site -- (FSLSD, or whatever it's called).

While that is a possibility, I don't find it very likely based on the observation of the universe alone. You're telling me the entirety of the universe was created just for one planet?
No, not for one planet, it was created for billions of humans.
Take a look at some perspective:

I consider it beautiful too, but my witnessing it is not by mere luck. It was all planed out by a Grand Designer, and I look forward to fully exploring the universe up close when His plan is complete. :)

If you saw a crowd of people standing around you might consider that as evidence for something even if when you go there you find nothing.

Consider the crowd standing around at SETI as evidence for something (ET life) even if when you go there you find nothing. :)

Sorry for the slow reply but I just noticed you answered.

People searching for something is NOT evidence of people having found said thing. That's just absurd. Why would they be looking if they already found what they were looking for?

I tend to think we are unique because: #40

If we found ET life and they had never heard of Jesus and they had no similar concept or of sin, what would you think of them? Has their entire race been going to hell, heaven, neither?

I'm not sure even you understand some of the stuff you say, sometimes, AV.

There are many cosmologists who are looking for nothing after finding nothing, so why not SETI?

ah. Still on about d.m.?
Gravitational lensing and other effects show that there's something we don't know what is. What's wrong with calling that something 'dark matter' until we find out what it is? Maybe we'll discover that the terminology and indeed concepts are way off, like we did with the supposed ether. But maybe not. Best keep an open mind, says I :)

As for e.t. why not? I mean, given all the stars and planets out there it seems impossible that we're the only life-bearing planet around. It's doubtful we're the only one with intelligent beings as well. No matter how unlikely intelligence of our kind is.

Granted I don't think it's teeming with complex life as in Star Trek or Star Gate or another series like that. Complex life is too fragile. One nearby nova and kaput. One asteroid impact and bye-bye. This will no doubt happen to us too (which is why I strongly advocate an active space colonization effort. We either get off this rock and spread, or die here). So we might be the only ones this quadrant who's around now. We might be the only ones right now in the entire galaxy for that matter (doubt it). But the universe? Mmmm.... I sincerely doubt that.
