I have a bit more chest hair, but everything else (including the bald spot on the top of our heads) is the same.
Wow - so even balding patterns are the same - that's odd. Then perhaps twins would even smell the same.

Well, at least my husband's secret twin won't have the same scars and injured knee.

Unless he puts the scars there and teaches him how to walk with a limp!

:D He doesn't limp, so if he did, that would give him away. :D

And knowing my husband, the knee injury would be one of those little things he would forget to mention to his brother.

Oh, and my husband would not allow his brother to sleep with me. So I don't know how they would get around that one - if my husband knew about it.

If your spouse had a secret identical twin and the twin switched for your spouse, how quickly do you think you would find out: (1) if your spouse was not helping the twin ?

Within a few seconds. Even if they looked precisely identical, I do not tell my spouse by his looks. They would be entirely different human beings. He does have certain physical traits and mannerisms--but even moreso it's his way of thinking, joking, and BEING that make him who he is. It is conceivable that my eyes would be deceived for a few seconds, but not long! :p

If your spouse had a secret identical twin and the twin switched for your spouse, how quickly do you think you would find out: (2) if your spouse was helping to try to fool you?

Oh WELL! In that case it might be a whole 5 minutes! Pull the wool entirely over MY eyes! :p

To be completely honest, this is exactly the sort of thing that my spouse and his cohorts would do. My dear hubby and his buddies are always up to little gags like this ... on each other and us poor, unsuspecting spouses. Actually I've gotten to be friends with his friends' spouses so it's all good. LOL ^_^ BUT--it does tend to keep me on my toes. ;)

Interesting questions. And some really fun answers.

Here's mine:

1) If DH wasn't helping his secret twin, I would know immediately. Because DH has a scar on his forehead that I am always playing with. (He likes to play with the one on my knee.) And also, his mannerisms would be different. There are certain things that DH does, esp. when he gets home from work, that only we know about.

2) If DH was helping the secret twin... It would depend on how far he went with the help. But I feel I could tell almost right away. Again, because of the scar. And also, there are some things that DH would never tell anyone about, even if he were trying to trick me.

And I agree, it is a smell thing. I love the way DH smells and would be able to tell if it were someone else's smell or his. There are times I will lay in bed after he has gone to sleep and smell him.... hehehehehe

My husband and I tend to share the same thoughts (and complete one another's sentences)

Something really funny just came to mind, but it pertains to G.I. Joe.

Did you watch G.I. Joe as a kid? You're not that much older than me, so you should be in the right cartoon generation.

:D I did watch GI Joe as a kid (I was the only girl in my neighborhood, so I played a lot of He-Man and GI Joe with the boys), but I don't remember Tomax and Xamot.

I always wished there were more than just one or two token female characters in those series. I got sort of bored of playing Scarlett or Lady Jaye. ^_^

Tomax and Xamot shared the same thoughts and finished each other's sentences too.

And I think they even felt each other's pain.

You and Mr. Saskatchewan would make a great pair of villains!

Hee. Mr. Felinity is far too nice to make a good villain.

I, on the other hand...

:tutu:
Oh, I see.

You're that villain that keeps doing pirouettes until people get dizzy, fall down, and die!

I've taught a number of twins, and if I can tell them apart after just a few meetings (and that's even when they're trying to fool me :p), then I'm pretty sure I'd be able to spot an imposter husband right away.
the only difference there is that you know there are twins and are looking to distinguish them. Here you don't even have any idea up front that it is possible.

For all of those who believe that you would detect this right away, how sure are you? If you thought something was up and said --'You are not my spouse" and the response was "WHat are you talking about? we have been married for X years" or some such conversation--Are you tossing them out? Calling the police? Remember, in both scenarios they are trying to passs and will try hard.

I would ask him what we talked about when I went to his trailer the year we met. And I would also ask what crazy things did my friends think when I skipped the meeting that night.

I know that DH would never tell anyone what we had talked about that night, because it was something very personal and if he ever told anyone... He would be sleeping outside for a month!
