  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I wonder, Miss @Multifavs,. reading through the four Gospels again this time, do you think it is accurate to say that Jesus, while still being God, was a humanist? He was certainly quick to forgive and have mercy, for one, and a big part of the kingdom of God that He spoke of often seemed to build upon caring for humans in some way - helping the poor, the sick, etc.
Hmm, I am not sure. I do know that Jesus loved humans very much (and still does, of course!), and it certainly makes sense; after all, He is God and so He loves us, made in the image of the Father. Because of His unending love, He is quick to forgive and care for humans, and He teaches all of us because He wants us to share in the joy of God's kingdom (of course, we can choose to accept or reject that offer through our own free will, but accepting is much better!) Perhaps He was also setting an example for us, to teach us to care for others and be kind to them as He wants us to; I remember somewhere in the Gospels He even says that whatever we do for one of His children we do for Him.

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose origin is from of old
from ancient days - Micah 5:2

If only I was more courageous and less worrisome like these passages tell us to be. I have seen persecution of Christianity before. I frequently see persecution of Catholicism, including right here on CF. Sometimes it gets me down. Stupid anxiety and OCD make it impossible not to worry a lot.
