Why do you think some will be lost even though God wants to save us all? It is what we do that matters. Our actions in this life will be fulfilled in the next.
Why be concerned about our own actions for preperation for after death when it's right here and now that God needs to be made alive in this life time where He is needed the most. I don't believe it's our "actions" that matter, though actions happen as a result of our heart felt love and compassion for those people who are in need...like the poor, the elderly, the children, those with no food or water or roof over their heads.

I have a lot of respect for ArchaicTruth, he's a thinker and seeker. He makes me think and seak. My response was triggered because ArchaicTruth, in his usual searching ways, was looking towards death to find truth. That doesn't make sense to me. I don't believe one needs to die to find truth...I feel that one needs to live life to find truth. I don't believe that a person can truly know Jesus either unless we live life with a heart filled with Love and Compassion and the need to help others in need. In that, it seems to me that a person can find Truth...and all with out dying.

I'm sorry dlamberth, but I cannot know the truth on faith alone
Oh...I totally agree. One can not know truth by faith alone. Yet one can know truth by living it and experiencing it with in their heart and soul. Truth can become alive with in us and it can shine through us and out to the world as we make God a reality in our lives. I believe that's what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 25-36:41. The reality of God is much, much more than "faith"...It's life.

well, you see I'm still confused as to what problem you have with my earlier stated beliefs.
I'm just looking at the question of why do people turn to God? What's the reason? You seemed to be looking at death in order to find Truth. For so many Christians, the question of why they turn to God is for a preparation for Death. But that seems upside down to me...and it is certainly something that, in my own love for my Beloved God, is something that I can't even relate to.

It seems from my pov that you are accusing me of planning to sit on my ass and wait till I die : /
LOL...not at all. I don't mean to be accusing you of anything. I'm terribly sorry if I came across that way. I didn't think I was..but maybe I was and didn't realize it. You ask very good and deep question...I like that. You make me think and contemplate on things. I look for those type of posts from others. It's the main reason why I'm here in CF. Because of that, I'm sure you'll see me around some more in other threads.

Alright, glad we've cleared up
To be honest though, I can't really answer why I believe in God, I don't have a problem with dieing and there being nothing, I feel that if God isn't really there to give me a purpose, than I can easily give myself one. I just realized recently that I don't have any specific reason for following this deity, I just do.

That may be true, but we seek God by responding to His grace. He freely gives this grace to us, but it is up to us to respond.:)

Our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.

Peace.

As many times as I've heard it, I've always had trouble with what you wrote. It's always seemed too, I don't know...too scripted or something. Or else I just don't understand it. I do have a yearning for my Beloved God that I don't know why it exists. I know that when I reach out to God that I experience a unity and wholeness and Oneness with all there is that I want to be experiencing more of. I know that when I experience the Holy Spirit that I experience a complete love that overwhelms everything that I want to be experiencing more of. I also know that when I reach out to my Beloved God that I become more human in my Love and Compassion towards others that I desire more of.

Our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.
What's interesting, and one of the things that has caused me to realize that my Beloved God is not limited to any single religious path and that He is accessible to all is that there is a place in most other religions where they also find a place to rest ones heart and soul and they, in their own images, are able to say the same thing as you.

Very interesting...I have often speculated God revealing himself to others through different religions

I suppose I'm a bit nostalgic, I believe in honor, valor, kinsman ship, and when I take an oath upon my life, I mean it. In my eyes, God is the king, and I am a knight, and I follow my lord not because he is powerful, nor because I am afraid of his power, I follow my lord because he knows the meaning of sacrifice, because my lord knows honor, because my lord is a judge and gives what is due. I follow Jesus Christ because I owe him a debt, and I shall return what is due in full, and in the event, with my life if necessary. It is in this way that God exists for me.

I don't know

I can only hope it is He for whom I have fought so hard.
Your not finding Him here, before you die? You have fought so hard, why do you think it will be any different after death?

Because, Death is the last frontier
The last great unknown
So are you kind of living on a hope and a prayer that death will bring you better opportunities to know Truth?

If that's true, after death, what good will that do you? Because Truth can be known right here and now while you are a alive...AND be brought to bear to help human kind and other aspects of God's Creation, to me, there seems to be much more value to know Truth now while your alive than when your dead.

It seems to me that living life is a much greater frontier than is death. Life gives one even more opportunities to not only know Truth and but to put that knowledge to good use than does death.

If the truth can be found in life, than it is by means I have no access too
I have no doubt that I will find the truth in death, even if it is not the truth I fight for
Again, I'm not about to sit on my ass and wait to die, I make sure my friends stay on track, I have a goal to go to Tech school and get a degree, all that good stuff

In truth I am an adventurous spirit, I love to see new things, new people, not because they are "shiny" new, but because they are different, and I crave individuality and difference. If had been born in any of the ages of exploration, I've no doubt I would have been out on the frontier. The next frontier is of course, space, but I doubt space will be open to travel in that manner any time soon. All I have to look forward to in that respect is death, because death is unknown. It's rather exciting for me, to think about what I will discover when I die.
