  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It pays for itself. The return on investment is likely under a year given the reduced travel and incidental costs going back and forth between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Won't those reduced incidental costs be paying for increased Embassy Security? Or are we just going to paint the brightest target in the Middle East and wait for another Benghazi?

I am sure moving the embassy closer to rocket and mortar range is a good idea. Trump is the only one with the guts to put our embassy staff at greater risk and closer to potential danger.

Man, I sure wouldn't want to be Tillerson facing the Senate when that embassy gets blasted.

Israel handled two invasions, the first and second intifada and the missile attacks of southern Lebanon. I think they can contain a handful of people burning tires and saying mean things about Israel. Trump has gotten a lot of things wrong but I think this one is long overdue. So did Palestine recognize Israel's right to exist yet? If you want peace in the Middle East the world community has to respect the sovereign boarders as they exist in 2017. Israel isn't going to provoke violence but they've fought everyone in the Middle East worth fighting and won decisively, including a proxy war waged from Iran.

Trump got this one right.

Yes, way back in 1993. Israel also recognized the PLO as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Arafat and Rabin got Nobel Prizes, Bill Clinton was there. It was all over the news.

On principle, perhaps -- but it's still a valuable bargaining chip that he just gave away.

There was a lot of potential here for "OK, Netanyahu, we'll recognize Jerusalem, but in exchange, the US wants..." that I would've liked to have seen used.

I'm sorry you feel this way and truly I cannot see why you do so. However, we all have a right to our own observations and opinions.

He is quite qualified to "drain the swamp" and he is doing a good job so far. Personally, I am so pleased to have an "outsider" to come in and "clean house." He has placed himself in the tiger's den not for power but for his love of this country. Limelight and power? He had those before he entered in the fray. Most are smarter than he is? Nope have to disagree with you there. Politicians are just that, polished and fermented in their own self greed. He has been subjected to the worst ridicule, slander, hatred than any president we have ever had; i.e. Abraham Lincoln included.

How is he doing a good job of draining the swamp? His administration is stacked with corporate lobbyists and sympathizers. His first NSA has pled guilty to lying to the FBI. His first HHS secretary resigned after it came to light that he blew a bunch of money on private jets. Some of his current and former top advisers are white nationalists. His EPA chief is one of the biggest anti-environmentalists in the country. His FCC chair is blatantly ignoring obvious problems with the open comment system regarding net neutrality, pretending as if all of the anti- comments are legit, when they obviously aren't. And then there's Trump himself, who's openly profiting off of his association with numerous properties that he still owns, either by his visiting them directly (and thus, requiring the secret service to rent space from them) or by others hiring his facilities as a means of currying favor with him.

Personally, I am so pleased to have an "outsider" to come in and "clean house." He has placed himself in the tiger's den not for power but for his love of this country. Limelight and power? He had those before he entered in the fray.

Trump's limelight was that of a reality host, and he didn't have squat for power. In global terms, he was a nobody. He hasn't even been a major player in NYC real estate in years. If it weren't for Mark Burnett's tv show, we probably would've forgotten about him by now.

Most are smarter than he is? Nope have to disagree with you there.

Based on what? The guy has an obviously thin grasp on a number of issues under his purview and when tasked with speaking off the cuff, can barely construct a coherent sentence.

Politicians are just that, polished and fermented in their own self greed.

Trump started a sham university and failed to pay subcontractors just because he could. If that's not greed, what is?

He has been subjected to the worst ridicule, slander, hatred than any president we have ever had; i.e. Abraham Lincoln included.

I thought your other statements were a little off, but that one's just asinine. The worst thing to be levied against Trump so far are some mild rioting and a bunch of angry Twitter posts. When that escalates to a civil war and his assassination, then maybe you'll have a point.

I have my point(s). You can accept them or you can give your own. I would say my remarks, points are no more asinine than what you have presented.

As for Trumps mode of speaking, I'm more concerned with the substance of his conversations than how eloquent he may or may not speak. BTW, such as this was also levied on G.W. Bush. Who cares about sentence structure?

Trump is working on the corruption in DC and it will not be overnight. There's so much to get rid of and so much to be overcome from the last administration. One year won't clear it all up. So much to do.

The fact of a reality show is what you see; the fact of deregulating some of Obama's crap, visiting world leaders and letting them know we no longer are apologizing for being America, reigning in the UN, and more and more.

You and others had most assuredly better hope there will be no assassination. If Obama never was assassinated, then no other president should be so.

You seem to know about the folks in the next plat down the road so figured you would know about your next door neighbors...

Ah, I see. The Alt-Right was good enough to define themselves. If you say the Alt-Right I know who you mean. If you say the Detroit Pistons, I know who you mean. If you say Alt-Left, I don't know who you mean.

To use your analogy, I know who the Alt-Right is because they make a lot of noise and put their name on their mailbox. I don't know who the Alt-Left is.

What actions has Trump taken that lead you to believe he is combating corruption in DC?

By filling his administration with the corrupt, he is effectively getting them off the street.

Why should he have to give us anything? We are, as he has sais, simply acknowledging reality.

Both parties have some significant problems...

One has perpetually pandered to more and more fringe people and has become a party of conspiracy theorists and the most abrasive people known to man.

The other has party leadership that has decided to play favorites and pick "The Golden Child" and ignore the will of their voters even though much better options were available (and that their voters actually liked better)
