I am not the one prophecying.

Quoting a prophecy from the Bible is not prophesying. I am not saying she never prophesied, but you were incorrect in your statement: "She also made several prophecies including the date that Jesus would return. He didn't." That was William Miller.

No, completely false. "It is a virtue to be able to admit when you are wrong, and foolishness to remain in arrogance."

The SDA community claims that Christians are required to keep dietary laws and observe Saturday as the sabbath.

Col 2:20 - Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—

,Col 2:21 - “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,”
Col 2:22 - which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

Enough about the SDAs.

The one question I have for SDA is the sabbath. How is it observed? It is observed all day Saturday, because biblically that is incorrect?

From sundown Friday, to sundown Saturday - then party!

The title is SDA. And it is in the Controversial Christian forum, meaning that pointing out their heresy is fair game.

Fair game? What does your false accusation of attributing to EGW what William Miller claimed, to do with fairness? Can you admit that, or not? Where is your love?

Keeping the dietary laws and the Sabbath may be rescinded, but Romans 14 shows us to not treat them with contempt as they do so unto the Lord - not against Him, and God will honor them if they do as they believe.

Look at Romans 14:2 and compare it to the beliefs of Ellen White.

I have. I'm not saying they are correct by still abiding by the law. But, you really need to check your contempt at the door and leave it there. It is not love.

When I want to determine what a denomination represents, I look at their central focus. Not what they necessarily *say* is their central focus, but what it actually is in reality. My experience with SDA has shown me that the ten commandments, particularly the fourth commandment, is *the* central focus and all of their doctrine points back to it in some way.

When something besides God himself is central focus for a group, it could possibly make them seem like a cult.

That mixed with their claim of exclusivity, of being the one true remnant church with nearly every other Christian denomination as apostate. Only SDA know "the truth".

The summer I turned 23, I hitchhiked into a Rocky Mountain town and worked helping a town dig out after a flood. I started attending a Seventh Day Adventist church. I met a young couple who were going to plant pine seedlings on tree farms in South Carolina with a Seventh Day Adventist crew. I got a ride to SC with them and worked with the crew until the end of the planting season. We had prayer meetings before starting work. I learned a vegetarian diet as many Seventh Day Adventists are vegan or vegetarian. I went away from them and their diet, but years later became a vegetarian for my health. A study showed Seventh Day Adventists live longer than the average American. SDA men live to be 87 and SDA women live to be 90. I could not speak evil of them.

Yes, the reason goes all the way back to creation when only plants were allowed for food for both man and animals. Only after the flood did God allow all meat to both, and then at the time of Moses was it restricted to only clean meat to signify separation from the Gentiles - which was rescinded at Cornelius's house by God.

Which Greek word is used for these commandments?

It doesn't matter. What matters is which COVENANT the commands are from. That is where the confusion lies.

The New Covenant commandments are a higher standard than the lowest level commandment of the Ten Commandments. For instance, the Ten Commandments was against murder, but allowed hate. Whereas, the New Covenant was against hate which automatically covered murder. We are not breaking the old laws, but establishing them.

As for the Sabbath, it was a holy convocation that was used as the sign of the covenant. But when a new covenant replaces the old, thus goes the sign and a new sign is appointed. The CUP of the New Covenant (1 Cor. 11:25) is the sign of our covenant, based on the blood of Jesus. Colossians 2:16 shows that Jesus was the substance of all the holy convocations and feasts from Leviticus 23, which the Sabbath was the first one. To see how Jesus was the substance of the Sabbath, read Hebrews 4. It is all about trusting in God, thus Jesus, and being able to then come boldly to the Throne of Grace.

Correct based on Jewish law. However if any SDA drives to their place of worship they are breaking the sabbath, because driving, biking, blading, skateboarding or other device-driven means of transportation are prohibited on Shabbat, Jews walk rather than commute to synagogue. However, even walking on Shabbat has its limits.

Jewish law sets the maximum walking range from one’s city to 2,000 cubits (3,049.5 feet, 0.596 miles (960 meters). [However, this measurement starts 70 2/3 cubits (112.24 ft.) from the city limits.] Practically speaking, this means that you may not walk a straight line more than .598 miles (3161.74 ft.) in any direction in the wilds outside your city limits.

"City limits" are not defined by the map you carry in your glove compartment.

According to halachah, unless there is more than 70 2/3 cubits between one house and the next, all contiguous housing is considered to be part of the same city. Therefore at times it would be permitted to walk even from one city to the next, as long as the whole way is populated.

The keeping of the Sabbath is either done correctly by Jewish law or it's wrong...or you can take what Romans states on the Sabbath and know that doing this is no longer required.

Why do some on CF call it a cult?
Could be for the same reason the Mormons are called one, their prophets/prophetess?

edit to add: I do not view the LDS, JWs or the SDA's as "cults".........

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon
Search Wikipedia Encyclopedia:

SDA

William Miller (February 15, 1782 – December 20, 1849) was an American Baptist preacher who is credited with beginning the mid-19th-century North American religious movement known as the Millerites.
After his proclamation of the Second Coming did not occur as expected in the 1840s, new heirs of his message emerged, including the Advent Christians (1860), the Seventh-day Adventists (1863) and other Adventist movements.

Ellen Gould White (née Ellen Gould Harmon; November 26, 1827 – July 16, 1915) was an author and an American Christian pioneer. Along with other Sabbatarian Adventist leaders such as Joseph Bates and her husband James White, she formed what became known as the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Smithsonian magazine named Ellen G. White among the "100 Most Significant Americans of All Time.[1]

LDS:

Joseph Smith Jr. (December 23, 1805 – June 27, 1844) was an American religious leader and founder of Mormonism and the Latter Day Saint movement. When he was 24, he published the Book of Mormon, and he had attracted tens of thousands of followers and founded a religion that continues to the present by the time of his death 14 years later.

JWs

Jehovah's Witnesses is a millenarian restorationist Christian denomination with nontrinitarian beliefs distinct from mainstream Christianity.[4] The group reports a worldwide membership of 8.45 million adherents involved in evangelism and an annual Memorial attendance of around 20 million.[

Was Miller a False Prophet/Teacher?

There are a lot more problems with the Mormon religion that have nothing to do with their prophet. A little misleading ImHO
