SDA conclusions.

I have decided to post my Annoucement here in the Progressive Forum because This is where most of my friends hang out and I know I will be recieved here better.

I want to say thank-you to the Progressives who have been friends with me while I have rexamined my beliefs. This was a not what I expected when I came. When I joined I was a loyal SDA. After spending time here learning an rexamining the SDA teaching I can no longer call my Self an SDA. I believe the Chruch to be in error and doctrianlly and I a false "system" of teaching. As you can imagine I no longer believe In EGW as a prophet. I believe she was self decieved,minipulated and controlled by other, I belived she borrowed from other as her source of inspiration. I believe she knowingly violated the principle of the prophetic interpation and tried to cover them up. I believe she is responsible for Damage done to many people including AT Jones, EJ Waggoner, JH Kellogg, D.M. Canwright, F. Bolton, AF Ballanger, ES Ballenger and many other that stood in her way.

I believe That James White was responsible for producing most of her early testimonies and is verified by the fact that as his influence went down so did her testimonies.

I know longer belive that Sunday is the mark of the beast. This is one of the dumest ideas in Adventism.

The 2300 day starting in 457 bc and ending in 1844 is wrong

The sanctuary teaching is out of harmony with Hebrews 8,9,10. which stats that Jesus was in the most holy place in in 1st centuary.

The Investigative judgment is a made up theroy to saveface for the millerite movement.

For these reasons I can no longer be an SDA. I again thank-you for your friendship and to those were christian to me your love. God bless you.

That's not surprising. There are many who have been fooled by the superficial reasoning of the Aggressives.

Personally, I do not believe the SDA to be anymore in error than any other religious organization. Creeds are always difficult but the only way an organization can maintain a membership is by having a body of belief. The only reason I could have to leave the SDA church today would be if I decided not to belong to any other religious organization again. The fact is that salvation is not dependent on which organization you belong to.

I came into the SDA Church simply on the basis of the Bible, as EGW at that time wasn't part of the formula as to why I came into this church.

As things are now in my experience with the SDA Church, it is the closest to Bible truth than any other one denomination.

That's a very strong statement. Do you believe it is closest to biblical truth regarding the gospel?

I plan to write an article entitled "Why I am a Progressive Adventist".

As Progressive Adventists are not the same as generic SDA's that is why we choose that particular name. Just as the Traditional/historic SDA's don't agree with generic SDA's.

Now I don't know what all I will have to say right now my sense is that progress in all things demands that one does not accept things because that is what we used to believe or that is what an organization has declared. While the SDA church leadership may say that when you look at other Progressive Adventists you see a much more open environment that does not declare one idea to be it and everything else false. There is in those who are Progressive Adventists a freedom and acceptance that is not present in much of Christianity, not just the generic SDA church.

There is as some mention in general Christianity a movement called the emergent or emerging church. It is present in the SDA church also in the form of Progressive Adventists. We all know the world is constantly changing why should we assume any denomination is beyond change, the only denominations that don't change are those like the shakers (which died out) and the Amish or Mennonites who have chosen at particular time period to remain static in but otherwise denominations will and are changing .

I believe the SDA Church is also closest to the truth in relation to the gospel, however, I recognize there seems to also be a legalistic element that needs to be purged out of the SDA Church.

A SDA pastor friend of mine once said in his sermon that they have the experience but lack the truth, whereas we have the truth but lack the experience.

Why do you think there is such diversity in conclusion across so many people and scholars over the years? Reading the same Bible. Does this diversity make you ponder the role that our assumptions play?

How would you know whether SDAs hold the best truth without embodying the learning path, and all the assumptions that go with it, of every Christian group?

Bourbaki, I wonder what it is like for you to hang out in the circle of people you attract? Will you eventually do battle only with yourself? Separating one limb from the other because you have nothing left to separate from?

Thank you Senti. I have great resonance with this. Leaving the SDA church would be seamless for me. But I wish to stay. I don't really know whether there is more or less error than other religions.

Sectarianism demands a grand capacity for illusion!

I do know, however, that I can create with others in the SDA community. God is here.

Seventh-day Adventists transcend their creed. There is an Adventist consciousness that is held by us and was held by all who came before us. It transcends the 28 beliefs.

This consciousness is beautiful because people deeply care about their walk with God through Adventism.
