• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Anyone who has been around this forum for a long while has seen my back and forth with substances and alcohol. For the moment I am off drugs (both legal and illegal substances, except as needed for colds, but no opiates) and drinking sparingly (in moderation and very infrequently). But I'm in need of a strengthening of my resolve as I'm losing sight of the point of staying away from drugs. I know that there are scriptures on not drinking excessively, but are there any about drugs anywhere or something close? I want something solid to remind myself of whenever I'm once more thinking about going on a bender.

“denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world” (Titus 2:12).

"The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers" (1 Peter 4:7).

"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8).

That last one says it all. A little bit of yeast ruins the whole batch, so if you're not watchful and you give the devil an inch he'll kick door down! You'll end up ruining yourself spiritually as you're preventing yourself from learning and growing from life! As a former pot smoker, I say give it away completely before you make a mess of your life. Nothing better than being clear-headed and focused. Don't forget to pray about it too as he will give you the power to overcome. Pray always!

Also found this that you may like to read: What does the Bible say about doing drugs?

Also read this on spiritual growth: http://www.gotquestions.org/spiritual-growth.html

Hope this helps?

Victor.

"Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine." (Isaiah 5:11)

"Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise." (Proverbs 20:1)

Although these verses are speaking of alcohol, they also are speaking of inebriation in general. It is not good to be led astray by any drug (alcohol or otherwise). It is a grave deception and not fitting for one who claims Christ.

"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18)

Do not be led astray by satan whispering in your ear that God does not care, He does care, you are commanded to be filled with the Spirit and not with worldly substances.

God will reward you for you faith and repentance as you continue to work towards sobriety in all things.

"What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!" (Romans 6:21)

Drugs are not worth it, Christ is precious, drugs are a waste. Look to Him for strength and be not deceived.

"But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." (Romans 6:22)

The bill still has a long way to go before coming before voters. The referendum would have to pass both the House and Senate by 3/5th majorities before it goes to ballot before the people. That could prove a difficult task in Florida's heavily Republican controlled Legislature,Get a LIVESTONED wristband for your buds. "Down for the cause!"

You've got to remember how bad it gets when you take drugs...I've been on drugs and am on prescription drugs right now. Remember the hell of it. It is NOT worth it at all. I know it seems worth it, but things will get so much worse if you do it. You've got to trust this. The consequences are disastrous. Anything you are facing right now will get ten times worse if you take drugs. It is the biggest deception to think that things will get better if you take drugs. You are doing so well...Please don't give up. From someone who understands...it will get easier. I've been off of alcohol for 10 years, marijuana for 15 years. It gets much easier. Please take this seriously. God bless you.:crossrc::crossrc:
