Shh, don’t cry my child!
I’m here
Here to hold you
And to show I care.
I love you
And it hurts me that you are in pain.

I want to help
But will you let me?
Will you let me carry
your sadness, sorrows and
give you my joy instead.

Shh, I’m here.
Don’t cry,’ve got you in my arms,
I’ll carry you through
and never let you go.

I love you and want to help.
But will you let me?

That overnight a rose could come
I one time did believe,
For when the fairies live with one,
they wilfully deceive.

But now I know this perfect thing
Under the frozen sod
In cold and storm grows patiently
Obedient to God.

My wonder grows, since knowledge came
Old fancies to dismiss;
And courage comes. Was not the rose
At winter doing this?

Nor did it know, the weary while,
What color and perfume
With this completed loveliness
Lay in that earthly tomb?

So maybe I, who cannot see
What God wills to show,
May, some day, bear a rose for Him
It took my life to grow.

Stay By the Brook
(Based on 1 Kings Chapter 17)

The Lord sometimes places us by a little lonely brook
He wants us to stay while he sustains us at that nook
God sent the prophet Elijah to his brook for a season
Elijah may have had some doubts about God's reason

God commanded the ravens to feed his servant there
Twice a day they fed him because he was in their care
The water from that little stream must have been so cool
In a place or two I imagine it formed a tranquil pool

After a while the brook shrank and dried up
Elijah had no water for his well worn cup
No rain had fell because Elijah had prayed
Elijah was resting as by the brook he stayed

Then God spoke and gave him a new command
And said get up and go to Zarephath land
A widow woman who lives their will sustain you
Even though she barely has enough to feed two

Elijah obeyed the Lord and went on his way
And with the woman and her son did stay
He performed a miracle and multiplied her oil
She had bread to bake and stew to boil

So you see we must stay by the brook for a time
God will sustain us when we barely have a dime
He knows we need rest when our bodies are weak
So stay by your brook until you hear God speak

To Christ Crucified

I am not moved to love Thee, 0 my Lord,
By any longing for Thy Promised Land;
Nor by the fear of hell am I unmanned
To cease from my transgressing deed or word.
Tis Thou Thyself dost move me,—Thy blood poured
Upon the cross from nailed foot and hand;
And all the wounds that did Thy body brand;
And all Thy shame and bitter death's award.

Yea, to Thy heart am I so deeply stirred
That I would love Thee were no heaven on high,—
That I would fear, were hell a tale absurd!
Such my desire, all questioning grows vain;
Though hope deny me hope I still should sigh,
And as ray love is now, it should remain.

Prayer for Souls

O Lord you reign from on high
Listen to your children sigh
Answer prayers and make things right
Open blinded eyes with spiritual sight

On the rugged cross you did give
Your precious life so we could live
The agony of your soul was so great
The Father said go and you did not hesitate

The harvest is ripe and the laborers are few
Send them forth from their padded pews
Into the fields where the lost sheep are
Bring them into the fold from near and far

O Lord save souls before it is too late
And keep them from a hellish fate
O that all men could clearly see
That you died for all even me

Because you prayed--
God touched our weary bodies with His power
And gave us strength for many a trying hour
In which we might have faltered, had not you,
Our intercessors faithful been, and true.

Because you prayed --
God touched our lips with coals from altar fire,
Gave Spirit-fulness, and did so inspire
That when we spoke, sin-blinded souls did see;
Sins chains were broken;
Captives were made free.

Because you prayed--
The dwellers in the dark have found the Light;
The glad-good news has banished heathen night;
The message of the Cross, so long delayed,
Has brought them life at last --
Because you prayed.

These poems are all so wonderful!

Here's an old Christian folk song, author unknown:

His voice as the sound of the dulcimer sweet
Is heard through the valley of death.
The cedars of Lebanon bow at His feet,
The air is perfumed with His breath.
His lips as the fountain of righteousness flow
That waters the garden of grace,
From which the Gentiles salvation shall know,
And bask in the smiles of His face.

O Thou in Whose Presence my soul takes delight,
On Whom in affliction I call;
My Comfort by day and my Song in the night,
My Hope, my Salvation, my All--
Where dost Thou at noontide resort with Thy sheep
Which feed on the pastures of love?
Then why in the valley of death should I weep,
Or alone in the wilderness rove?

My wife studied the Bible while I watched SportCenter;

She prayed on while I got up after five minutes and made a snack;

She went to Bible study while I was playing softball;

She went to church every Sunday and I went when I felt like it;

This morning Jesus took her and all the rest of His children, and I'm sitting here in a dark house, wondering what happened.

From a bad dream and or warning from God. May all men take heed.

In the Midst of the Mist, There Is Joy
When there are trials, troubles, tumult, or thunder;
When calamities, collisions and clouds arrive
That may darken the way you are walking today,
Take joy, for Christ is alive.

When you think you cannot take one more step forward,
When pain, and weakness and sickness prevail,
You may not have the words to cry out to the Master;
Do not despair; He is already there.

If the mist is so thick that you cannot see through it,
And the darkness is closing in fast,
And you can’t even see your own hands out before you,
Our Savior is present long after it’s past.

Do you think there are trials that no one has faced?
Do you think no one knows how you feel?
Do you think your temptations are oh, so unique?
Think again; Jesus Christ knows so well.

Are you thinking that suffering can just bring despair?
Do you think there is no one who cares?
Are you certain afflictions will not end for you?
Think again; Christ the healer is there.

In the midst of the mist, there is joy everlasting;
Pure joy that the world may not know.
In all of your trials, our Lord went before you,
And through them He’s helping you grow.

In the midst of the downpours and thunderous storms
He is walking beside you to show
That in your weakness He is your strength.
Let Him guide you wherever you go.

So when you are weary and longing to quit,
Remember that He sees the start and the end;
He loves you, and holds you and leads you along
And gives joy for the journey, my friend.

O Father, in Whose great design
Our human love is made divine,
Teach us to give our love to those
By sin beset and all its woes;
On Thee for them to cast our care,
By fasting and by lowly prayer.
Lord Jesu, grant us eyes to see
In our poor brethren Thine and Thee—
To give ourselves where others need;
Where others sin to intercede;
And thus, by fasting and by prayer,
Our brethren’s burden seek to bear.
O Spirit, by Whose grace alone
The many members are made one
O warm our hearts, inspire our will,
That we Thy purpose may fulfill;
And thus, by fasting and by prayer,
Through Thee “the glorious Church” prepare.
O God, all-loving Three in One
Whom we shall see beyond the sun;
Where walk in white the blood-bought throng,
Where soars to Thee the sweet new song,
Grant that we find the brethren there
We sought by fasting and by prayer.
