I like Beauty to ashes, Dead Poetic and Norma Jean. Nice to know there are other ppl out there with some good taste! I also know a local band here, so I might be a lil partial to the style haha.

Oh and xpunkskaterx, you learn to appreaciate WHAT they say first, then HOW they say it. Blessings!

yep, I like it. If it sticks around for a while I think it could get better, but right now it's decent. Some good screamo-like bands:

Dead Poetic
Underoath
mewithoutYou [nearly screamo like]
Falling Up [the few screamo songs they have]
Demon Hunter
Lucerin Blue

i don't like emery very much for some reason. as far as screamo i like though, i enjoy some of beloved's earliest songs, a bit of dead poetic, does thursday count? i think mostly i'd rather just listen to straight-up hardcore than "screamo."

Just that? It has nothing to do with the style of the musical instruments?

Nah, it's more of emo music & hardcore music getting blender together and coming out well [which doesn't always happen].

Good screamo, I'd say, has the music of mostly of emo flared with hardcore-like bridges, and vocals of a polished hardcore influence by emo-rock singers.

I believe I've seen this called "emocore." By this definition I wouldn't say that something like Norma Jean or Demon Hunter (or even mewithoutYou) is "screamo." But by this definition, I would say I like:

Emery
Underoath
Blindside (though their music doesn't seem very "emoish")
Dead Poetic
Thrice (not a "Christian" band, but some of the members are Christian; including the lead songwriter so they do have some songs with Christian themes)

yeah I've heard it called emocore, which just makes me laugh. How oxymoron can be and still be cool  ? Anyhow,
yeah.. Demon Hunter I'm sure doesn't fit the part fully, but some of thier stuff could be consider on that edge of screamo-like ...that's the great thing about screamo it's still so young there's no really good definition for it yet. mewithoutYou is really something you can stick any label on and have it stick well [which I love about them]; and Norma Jean.. who knows, I haven't much listened since I saw them live without Joshua.

I dont have a problem with emo or screamo. its just the dumb genre names we choose for every other band that comes out. 2 years ago there was no emo, there was no screamo. there was no post-alt-grunge-indie-fuzzed out-synth-soul-garage-rock (im exagerating, but you know what I mean). I do like meithoutYou, though. ANd Emery. Most of it. But I have a problem with emo and screamo. but, hey. it keeps the kids at Hot Topic happy.
