It's the sense of being amongst the Enlightened, the Happy Few who know the real story., that Those People Are Trying to Conceal. Now just why "Those People" are trying to conceal so much for no discernible reason or benefit to anyone is a mystery in itself. The stock answer is "To deceive us". But the deception doesn't appear to be directed toward any particular goal, but instead is an end in itself. They want to deceive us because that's what they do. So the goal of the Enlightened is to simply gainsay anything that They tell us. So if They say ther earth is spherical, then it must really be flat. It They say there's no proof of ET aiens/demons swarmng the skies, that means aliens/demons in flying saucers are almost a menace to navigation. No giants? There are surely some buried in your back yard. "Sons of God" has to really mean "Bad Angels"
Casting too wide a loop here, I think. A good many scientists who have fully believed that God creted the universe have spent their lives in research to discoverer the inexhaustable marvels of that creation. The greatest scientist of them all, Isaac Newton, was a devout Christian and a creationist.
