You noticed the second part, where not all ice is floating on water? The stuff on land is what's dangerous.I've been trying to tell global warming alarmists the same thing for years. Thanks for pointing out the OBVIOUS HARD SCIENCE of the matter.
Ocean levels will rise when ice on land melts, because that was not in the ocean to begin with. Greenland and Antarctica. That's ice sitting on land. When that goes, sea levels will rise.

There's enough ice stored on Greenland and Antarctica to raise ocean levels by well over 300 feet. That's certainly not the end of the world, its happened before. But it is the end of a heck of a lot of the cities on earth.
"Ivy League geologist Dr. Robert Giegengack of the University of Pennsylvania rejected fears of a catastrophic 20 foot sea level rise. "Sea level is rising," Giegengack said, but it's been rising ever since warming set in 18,000 years ago, he explained according to a February 2007 article in Philadelphia Magazine. But the Earth's global ocean level is only going up 1.8 millimeters per year -- less than the thickness of one nickel, Giegengack further explained. At the present rate of sea-level rise its going to take 3,500 years to get up there (to a rise of 20 feet) So if for some reason this warming process that melts ice is cutting loose and accelerating, sea level doesnt know it. And sea level, we think, is the best indicator of global warming," he said. (LINK) Giegengack also noted that the history of the last one billion years on the planet reveals "only about 5% of that time has been characterized by conditions on Earth that were so cold that the poles could support masses of permanent ice." .I guess its bedtime, this is pointless. You can't even speak for yourself, you cut and paste. Any idea how many threads I could fill up with cut and pastes by the 'alarmists'?
I make no claim to being an atmospheric scientist. So I rely on the peer-reviewed studies of internationally respected atmospheric scientists. That's simple common sense.
I tried to get through to you with the basics in my own words. You are unable to respond in kind. Maybe a light bulb will go off with someone else who reads this thread. Maybe.
You're quite obviously not an atmospheric scientist. So why should I be interested in "the basics" in your "own words"?! Over the last few weeks, I've posted the peer-reviewed scientific studies of internationally respected atmospheric scientists, who completely reject your alarmist opinions. I'll take their scientific findings over your non-expert and undocumented statements any day.

You need to do a quick edit of that post so your words no longer appear to be mine.
This is pretty pathetic Christian Soldier - you clearly figured out how to use the cut and paste button on your computer. Howvere if want to read the entire EPW blog we will go read it our selves. You don't have to post it in every single thread. Now how about in stead of posting uncited drivel you actually provide some of your own insite? If the greenland ice sheet is not melting - why is it that the mass balance is negative? (I warn you that is a link to actual research and not a blog). PS Which is it, is the earth 6000-10000 years old or 18000 years old?
