What do you mean by "prove?" That anyone with psychiatric problems have chemical imbalances; or that all chemical imbalances will produce mental instability?

The best you could hope for IMO is some kind of non-causal association.

Some psychiatrists found they could use horse tranquilizers (thorazine) to sedate psychotic individuals. I would recommend learning the Gospel message to love one another as superior to tranquilizers and sedatives used to subdue mad men/women.

You need good nutrition to have a healthy body and mind. It is not easy to learn good nutrition as there are many incorrect theories. You may need to receive good teachings to do good behavior.

People diagnosed with schizophrenia as a whole do not usually do better without drugs. Since you are making a definitive statement, what is your proof of your claim? Not all drugs work the same way on different people so different drugs will give different results on different people. Drugs actually help a lot of schizophrenic people live relatively normal lives.

Myself. Psychiatry does suppress critics of psychiatry. Psychiatrists who criticize the prevailing model that is. I was diagnosed with accute schizophrenia in 2011. They the hospital had me on way above the recommended dose of an antipsychotic. I was on it for years. Began to question the diagnosis so I abruptly stopped the drugs and went into a withdrawal state. They instantly changed the diagnosis to schizoaffective disorder and put me on sodium valproate. I weaned off that slowly. Same as abilify. I have learned everything the hospital told me was opinion only not established fact. It is rubbish..

But big pharma is an industry. So the science of making more money pushes aside the science of true medicine.

This is called anecdotal, not evidence or proof. Did you do a double blind study on any particular drug? Or are you saying that you simply don't believe the medications you were prescribed worked. A diagnosis of schizophrenia to schizoaffective disorder is a more specific diagnosis, not evidence of a wrong diagnosis.

Do you no longer have the symptoms that you had when you were first diagnosed? Are you living a boringly simple life with no symptoms of either condition?

Why do discussion like this always turn to "big pharm's corruption"? I happen to like some of the new meds that have been developed recently. Does it cost a lot of money to bring a new medication to market after years of proving it both works and is safe to use?...yes it does. Do most of us have the option of staying with medications that are available in generic and paying very little instead of going with the newer better medications? Also yes. Would you like the medical world to back up 50 years and throw away all the discoveries that have entered the market since then? Well, I guess you have that option ... sticking with the older cheaper meds. Personally, I want the big pharm ... and little pharm companies to continue to research and develop newer and better medications....

Why did you have them then and not now? You weren't on the medications before you got the diagnosis.

I am assuming that you were hospitalize for these condition which is where they put you on these medications. I am also assuming that there was a reason why you were hospitalized...not that someone didn't like the green shirt that you happened to wear that day. Behaviors are observed. I am assuming that these behaviors were observed by more than just the doctors...but rather other hospital personnel like nurses and mental health aides...and whoever it was who brought you to the hospital in the first place. People are not just randomly diagnosed with schizophrenia....
