Reading a book (or collection of stories) over and over again, is completely different from examining what is written, from a scholarly and historical view point.
You see, man can write anything in a book and stories, but to some at least, whether these stories have any level of historical credibility, is what is most important.
I take no issue with one who believes in the stories based on faith, because the book is a work of theology and theology, does indeed require faith.
God will put you to the test to see what you are made of. Mostly our works will be tested by fire.

They talk about treasures in Heaven. One pastor talks about sending building material ahead that they use to build our mansion there. Some people will suffer loss and others will have their reward waiting for them.
There is a test and there is no cheating allowed on the test. Everyone has to determine for themselves what standards they want to live by. Right now a lot of Christians talk about the "left behind" movie. So for those who find themselves in the tribulation period they have failed the test.

Not really. Of course this is just one sack of chemicals interacting to stimuli from another sack of chemicals.

I am here right now to gain in my understanding of the written word of God. We do that through the study of the natural record that He provides for us. Everyone has a choice to make. My war would have been Vietnam but I made my choice not to go. I have very good friends that made a choice to go. We all live with the results of the choices we make. For example a very close friend of mine lost a leg to a claymore mine. He is grateful for the help he received from God to deal with that.Example?
