And yet here I am. Again, whether or not my experience of consciousness is illusory, it does nothing to change the fact that I experience it. "I think, therefore I am".
No, here is a sack of chemicals which react to stimuli . You're nothing more than chemical reactions, which isn't really a 'you' any more than any chemical compound is a 'you'.
The question then is how much do we create or control our own illusion and what exactly is the mechanism of the shared illusion that most of us seem to experience. When does illusion become disillusion?
Interesting tidbit of info here:Actually, there is no 'I' in the sack of chemicals produced by Darwinist creation.
Eh, just showing you that it isn't "creationists" that are making this stuff up.Interesting articles
Let me get this straight, you are saying that the eyewitness did not record the event accurately?
There is no doubt in my mind that the eyewitness had a better perspective of what Jesus said than you!
It appears you missed the point of what I said, your response proves it.
This is always an argument that is so crazy to me. We have no other document in antiquity so close to the events they are written about, none of which were written when people still alive at the time of the writings could discount it if it were not correct and the reasoning or motivation for those who were writing it when Christians were being killed for their following of Christ.
Prove it. Provide documentation that shows that the words in the New Testament were not spoken by Jesus.
It appears that the default position among the educated is that we just "make this stuff up."Eh, just showing you that it isn't "creationists" that are making this stuff up.
I think, therefore I am. As far as self-evident statements go, that's kind of the classic one. Ergo, whether or not my consciousness is some ghost in the machine, or whether it's an emergent property of a complex biochemical computer, it exists and I experience it.
I see you are asking people to prove a negative again.
I guess you still haven't figured out how the burden of proof works... not even after the many MANY attempts by several people to explain it to you.
It's not the job of the sceptics to prove that your book isn't accurate. It's your job to prove that it is.
That just simply is your opinion. What history has been shown inaccurate?I wonder how many Christians, have actually studied the NT in a critical fashion. When one is motivated to do so and they read the works of various well credentialed NT scholars and historians, it becomes quite clear, that the NT is considered, much more a work of theology, than it is a work of credible history.
Provide some examples please. This is simply not true.
There's plenty contemporary (and independend) writings about plenty of events in antiquity. None of which are in the bible.
Secondly, mentioning that they were being killed for their beliefs has no relevance whatsoever to the truth of their beliefs.
Vikings used to voluantarily sacrifice their lives for the religion.
That doesn't mean Thor exists or something. It only means that these people really, really believed what they believed.
Muslims die voluantarily for their beliefs everyday in Iraq and Syria.
It doesn't mean that Mohammed flew to heaven on a winged horse.
There is no 'you' to think. There is no 'you' to experience anything. Reactive chemical compounds isn't a 'you'.
The question then is how much do we create or control our own illusion and what exactly is the mechanism of the shared illusion that most of us seem to experience. When does illusion become disillusion?
There is a test and there is no cheating allowed on the test. Everyone has to determine for themselves what standards they want to live by. Right now a lot of Christians talk about the "left behind" movie. So for those who find themselves in the tribulation period they have failed the test. They are soon going to find out that an ounce of prevention is equal to a pound of cure. One pastor use to talk about glass alibis. When people go before the throne for judgement their alibis and excuses are going to shatter and prove to be a worthless defense. If we say that religion is needed for morality, that really doesn't change the basic problem. How do we know that the commandments given by a religion are moral?
I am not sure sure about that. Lots of people go off to fight a war and die for little more then a lie.People will die if they believe something is true, few if any will die if they know something is a lie.

I have read every word in the Bible AT LEAST five times. I know because I underline as I go and I actually have 7 Bibles that I have wore out reading them. I suggest that people read the Bible for themselves and be lead by the Holy Spirit of God. It is God that will help us to understand what we are reading. WE do not need other people to tell us what the Bible says. Of course it is always nice to know what God is doing in other peoples lives, but we should not rely on anyone for our understanding other then God. He will supply us with all the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that we would ever need.I wonder how many Christians, have actually studied the NT in a critical fashion. God will put you to the test to see what you are made of. Mostly our works will be tested by fire. What test? Please demonstrate how this test is objective and reliable.
