Prove that empathy and reason exist? Sorry but I am not going disappear into this rabbit hole. But empathy for you fellow being, and reason are part of being human, whether one argues materialistic evolution etc. Or from a religious perspective.Prove it exists.

Last time I checked my synapses do exist, so if empathy is 'only synapse firing' it follows that empathy exists. I really must stop diggingI'm referring to a consciousness perspective. Isn't empathy nothing more than synapses firing in the brain? It actually doesn't exist.

Lol have fun in denying reality, that most humans observably are empathetic, and reasoning.Nope, there is no real empathy of a person, no caring, it's nothing but the result of a naturalistic mechanism in operation.
Actually, there is no 'you' to have empathy.
Yes, but according to materialism, your self will, emotions and all that you think you are choosing are just illusions.Lol have fun in denying reality, that most humans observably are empathetic, and reasoning.

That's niceNope, they're nothing more than chemical reactions.
Clearly this discussion for one thingWhat more can you expect from a sack of chemicals?
Clearly this discussion for one thing. Observed Life clearly supports empathy, reason and just plain humanity, the origins of this are up for discussion but do not create materialistic strawmen.
Not true. That's nice, your defining materialism for everyone, personally I observe what is, and that is humanity, with empathy, and reason, the only group declaring this impossible because of materialism are the religious. Funny that.

Yes, but according to materialism, your self will, emotions and all that you think you are choosing are just illusions.
Even assuming that this is completely true, why does this matter? The idea that my consciousness is an illusion has no effect on the fact that I am experiencing consciousness. The idea that my emotions are illusory has no effect on the fact that I experience them.
And yet here I am. Again, whether or not my experience of consciousness is illusory, it does nothing to change the fact that I experience it. "I think, therefore I am".Actually, there is no 'I' in the sack of chemicals produced by Darwinist creation. The chemicals in the sack are simply reacting to stimuli and behave according to mindless DNA instructions.
Empathy shows up on a MRI.Prove that empathy and reason exist? Sorry but I am not going disappear into this rabbit hole. But empathy for you fellow being, and reason are part of being human, whether one argues materialistic evolution etc. Or from a religious perspective.
The question then is how much do we create or control our own illusion and what exactly is the mechanism of the shared illusion that most of us seem to experience. When does illusion become disillusion? And yet here I am. Again, whether or not my experience of consciousness is illusory, it does nothing to change the fact that I experience it. "I think, therefore I am".
