That's the problem with kids these days -- they don't appreciate subtlety.

Whenever I teach Shakespeare, I always explain a few of the jokes, and warn that he'd be banned (and I'd get fired) if I explained too many.

A lot of this thread is quibbling about whether a particular thing is actually "explicit" or not.

To get back to the topic: If, given that a particular book or item is sexually explicit in everyone's judgment, should it be disseminated by schools to minor children?

When I was in high school, the book "Joy of Sex" was newly published. My mother must have bought a copy of the very first edition, and she left it on the dining room table because she knew I'd read any book that came into the house.

It had some fully explicit illustrations of what are normal heterosexual activities. But I don't think there is an appropriate public school course for them to be displayed.
