The ex-SSPX bishop Richard Williamson is latae sententiae excommunicated since March 19, 2015, Solemnity of St. Joseph, spouse of the Virgin Mary, for consecrating a bishop (Rev. Fr. Jean-Michel Fauré) without papal approval. He had been ousted from the society in 2012 and had his Écône consecrations' excommunication lifted in 2009. He is in constant controversy, and has denied the Holocaust multiple times. The SSPX has denied any relationship with him since 2012. Fauré was similarly driven out of the society in 2014.
