  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is a whole slew of horribly grotesque movies available nowadays for people to watch. Most would never make it into our permanent DVD collection, but every once in a while there's a movie released that is scary and actually  has a real good storyline. I've been guilty of watching some real bad ones, unfortunately.

Do you like scary movies?
If you like scary movies, which is your favorite?
Are there any scary movies you'd recommend?

Ok, I'll be the one to admit to enjoying all the blood and gore I can get... as an above poster said... it's an escape... I get nightmares and MrCozmo has to cover my eyes here and there (ya ya, I'm a big ole baby), but they're fun anyways. I do prefer to see them at the theatre instead of at home, tho... it's easier to seperate myself from those images being shown in our bedroom. My most favorite recent one was Freddy Vs Jason... ok, anyone who saw it just has to admit that was the funniest 'scary' movie of the last 5 years... I hope they make a sequel... as long as it's equally as funny. I don't like the shining tho (sorry dear), and I've never seen the exorcist (no pea soup pls)... but the rest of them I really enjoy.

I HATE scary movies with a passion. My husband loves them though and talks me into watching them occassionally (but, let me tell you, he better give me something really, really good in return). The scariest one I've seen in the past few years was House on Haunted Hill. Before that, the one that scared me most was Candyman.

I'm a HUGE chicken and I hate to feel scared or be surprised. And, inevitably, my husband (after talking me into watching the dang movie) falls asleep in the middle of it, leaving me to my own scary thoughts and bad dreams.

We're in the middle of watching Rose Red (Steven King miniseries, I think). Had the DVD for months and haven't finished it yet. Pretty creepy, though. Storm of the Century (another Steven King miniseries) was scary, too.

Love, Heather

All right do you have a particular type of scary movie you like? You mentioned The Shining, if you like ghost movies ever seen "the Devils Backbone"? It's spanish and creepy well past anything the US is making right now. Or "the Eye"? Chinese I think. That one was great! Both those have subtitles or dubbed I prefer subtitles but if you want to enjoy it pick which ever one you like. If you like bloody, try "Audition", Japanese, painful. You've been warned! ;) If you like older you almost can't miss with Val Lewton "Cat People" "Seventh Victim". I love horror movies. That should get you started. I'm going to get some sites together you can check-out!

I like most Vampire movies. I wasn't too taken with Interview With a Vampire. It seemed to take itself too seriously. I didn't finish it. I think one reason I like them is "good" usually beats them out in the end, and I didn't see IWaV heading that direction.
The first 2 Alien movies of the series were great. I didn't care for the prison one though, so never came back to see the 4th.
The Bruce Campbell - Evil Dead series was fun.
Nosferatu was a classic and deserves special mention outside of the general "vampires" list.
Horror with a bit of humor thrown in never hurts. American Werewolf in London was fun. When the werewolf made it to Paris, it became very painful.

Be blessed!

Hehe, well the punishment for that is a couple days of changing the litter box and all the poopy diapers. Hey, maybe THAT would make a good horror movie. I hope Mrs.Cozmo makes you suffer accordingly. ;)

And thanks. :)
