tulc said:All right do you have a particular type of scary movie you like? You mentioned The Shining, if you like ghost movies ever seen "the Devils Backbone"? It's spanish and creepy well past anything the US is making right now. Or "the Eye"? Chinese I think. That one was great! Both those have subtitles or dubbed I prefer subtitles but if you want to enjoy it pick which ever one you like. If you like bloody, try "Audition", Japanese, painful. You've been warned! If you like older you almost can't miss with Val Lewton "Cat People" "Seventh Victim". I love horror movies. That should get you started. I'm going to get some sites together you can check-out!
tulc(it takes a lot to creep me out, just a warning!)
I was an EMT and worked in the medical field for 7 years. Honestly, there's probably not much that can be shown in a movie that I haven't seen in real life. It never bothered me handling a dead body, watching an autopsy or even ones that died a horrific death. What always bothered me was seeing the family come in to see their loved ones or when I would be able to talk to the patient just before they died. That always absolutely, positively killed me. I couldn't handle seeing the family members pain and most of the time I couldn't help the patients who were begging to see their mom, dad, brother, sister, spouse or loved one before they passed away. Being a feeler person, that was tearing me up inside and I found myself so many times crying for them and with them. Very rarely did I get the awesome opportunity of sharing Christ with any of them as well. Usually because the circumstance or situation just didn't permit it. Thus, any kind of scary movie, hack and slash, mass murder, bloody, doesn't really bother me as far as the violence is concerned, but I made a choice that I will avoid watching movies like that just for fun because it just doesn't seem right to do so. Not that I think anybody who does is bad or think ill of them. Even then, I'd have to admit to enjoying zombie type movies like Night of the Living Dead, Resident Evil and 28 Days Later... but they're movies that make me feel ashamed telling other Christians I enjoy them. Maybe because I know they're not edifying. Still, if you have some movies you think I'd like, let me know. I'd like to try them out.
God bless!
