  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think it is worth it. If you are cold for extended periods of times it weakens your immune system because your body uses energy to stay warm. This makes you more tired, even if it is just a little, and the overall increase in fatigue lowers your body immune response. This is what kept people believing if you get cold, you will get sick. There's more to it than that, like the presence of germs and no prior immunity to them, but being cold and getting sick is correlated.

I like to keep my heat at 68-70 when I'm home. My bill is never more than 100.00, but I live in a small place that is well insulated. I add more clothing or a blanket before raising the temp to 70.

When it comes to heating and cooling cost, it is best to keep it on at a moderately bearable temp, than to raise and lower it a lot.
