I talked to one Christian lady and she said that when you are truly saved and born again, you get a new heart.
She said she is no longer inclined to sin. That she was Born Again of the Spirit.
That sounds like quite claim to me!

* Is that the experience of most people here?

* If you are still struggling... does that mean your aren't really saved.. not born of the Spirit?

Not immediately, but in a process - yes. Sinning is less and less attractive in time. It also depends on your background, age, hormones, mental health etc. Some people need more time and work than others - we are not standardized and the experience of one does not need to match the experience of others.

* If you are still struggling... does that mean your aren't really saved.. not born of the Spirit?
No, it means the seed in you has not matured into a tree, yet (Mt 13:31). The yeast has not yet worked through all the dough (Lk 13:21).

But do not lose focus and take a good care of the seed (Lk 8:5-15).

Every day can be s struggle. Jesus came to save sinners. If we fall, we get right back up and head to Jesus.

I for one fall a lot! I try not to but, life can be extremely harsh.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

God bless you guys.

When a person believes in Jesus for Eternal Life, they receive the gift of The Holy Spirit (the new man). The person still has their sin nature (the old man), the new believer will only become a mature believer and sin less.
Only because they have growth and maturity in their life by daily putting to practice in their lives. Obedience to the teachings of how a believer should conduct their life according to the principals found in the writings of the New Testament books Acts through Jude.

It depends on what you mean by sin. Say that someone is a serial mugger. Mugging people is a sin, as in thou shall not steal. One day they decide to get religion and they stop mugging people. They have then stopped sinning. So we can say that they no longer sin. But then someone cuts them off in traffic and they start swearing at them. Swearing at a person is a sin, but really an unintentional sin. In the case of muggings, they planned out the mugging and intentionally carried it out, an intentional sin. They didn't set out to swear at someone in traffic they were merely overcome with emotion at a certain point and blurted it out. So, they have stopped sinning yet continue to sin.

It is a phenomenon when our Lord changes the heart. Not many understand.
Blessings.

I know I’m walking with the spirit, because my thoughts and actions are preceded with a yearning for righteousness.

Will I always get it right for the rest of my life? NO! Will I walk every day trying to do the will of God? YES! If fall I will get up and seek new counsel with Jesus.

The point I’m making is that through new birth, motives change, desires subside and new work through our Heavenly Father begins.

Like others have pointed out, the birth is the beginning, the seed must grow through sunlight and watering.

God Bless you
David

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

It should be the Christian experience that sin is reduced. a) from our choosing to abandon it, and b) God's Spirit working in us.

1 Jn 3:3-10 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

The Bible is quite clear that the one who goes on sinning is not saved. Although this is not perfect righteousness, it is definitely a boost of sorts.

Gal 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."
As for my experience, let's take my relationship with my wife. I love my wife. I choose to not look at other women, be they real or the online or paper variety. I try to treat her well and allow her to just do life. I help her with the housework, as often as she wishes it. But as for sin, I may occasionally disagree with her, and get forceful rather than have an accommodating nature. So although I do my best to love my wife, I still sin against her from time to time, by being disagreeable in nature. A Christian should have no "Big" sins, and the small ones should happen infrequently. Yet it is God's Holy Spirit that keeps us on track. That is why Jesus asks us to spend time in God's presence.

Mark 14:38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

This does not mean a Christian who has committed a "Big" sin is no longer saved, but rather they should seek genuine repentance, turning from that sin, they should try to not do it again.

How do you distinguish between a big and a small sin. What are the biblical criteria?

Not so sure there is a fixed rule. But I would say a big sin is anything specifically forbidden by rule in the Bible, a small sin would be something like an outburst of sudden anger caused by stress, or things we are unsure are sins.

Interesting quote, where is it from?

Romans 14:23

for the most part christians get bogged down in the a/effect(s) of sin ... not knowing the cause or how the serpent/enemy entered into our garden/mind, let alone how this serpent serves God/us in raising up a Son who sees as He sees ...

The Spirit places a desire in us where we don’t want to sin, absolutely. But we will still sin lest lose our humility & dependence on Christ & b/c we are human & Christ's kingdom has yet to be fufilled in its entirety. When we do sin:
- It’ll be a shorter period
- We’ll be quicker to repent
- We don’t like it!
- It’ll be less often
- 'Getting caught' or how badly it affects others isn't the reason for our shame
- We don't dwell on it

Some things are a bigger temptation than others. Some things won’t be a temptation anymore. Some things will be less of a temptation.

If you’re not that far yet, it’s okay, you can get there b/c the Spirit will work in you if you ask.
