  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good Question

The answer is:
YES,Yes,Yes and Yes

But the best way to overcome that is to fill your self with more of God
Read and meditate on His word.....
the devil will still try to put doubts in your head...but Jesus is the truth the life and the Way and when you are armed with truth...truth will set you free. You will have the ammo you need to come against him.
the devil come to steal kill and destroy.

For some it is so easy to believe in the devil, but if the devil is real...guess what....GOD IS DEFINITLY REAL!!!

I wouldn't be so concerned with how satan operates. Keep your eyes on the victor, not the enemy. Satan was disarmed on the cross, you don't need to worry about him.

I definitely agree that you need to keep your eyes on Christ, but this world belongs to satan. The Bible makes it very clear that we need to be ready for his attacks. satan roams around like a lion seeking someone to devour. If satan isn't a force against us that we should worry about then why are we supposed to put on the full armor of God? We are supposed to have a shield of faith to keep away his fiery arrows. That doesn't sound like a passive thing to me.

Ephesians 6:11&12 "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against POWERS, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
satan is still the ruler of this earth even though Christ is the victor over death. Until we are at rest with Christ in Heaven satan will tempt us and try to make us doubt.

This is foolish confidence, even if your intentions weren't so. Isn't it written:

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he (the Father) too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death --that is, the devil--" (Hebrews 2:14-15)?

So doesn't this scripture testify that Satan holds the power of death? Why, then, would you say, "don't be concerned with how satan operates?" Don't you know that it was prophecied that Satan would lead the whole world astray, and that it has happened?

"The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled down to the earth, and his angels with him." Revelation 12:9

Since, then, you believe you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (For man, this sounds impossible, but with God, everything is possible. If God has given you the holy spirit, you no longer live to please the desires of the flesh, and you have died to the Law that Moses brought and obey the old covenant automatically. So pray to God for the latter rain; the holy spirit. Pray that you will be brought to His holy mountain, Zion, the city of His festivals. Pray for these things.)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. Now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

There are entire "ministries" devoted to "exposing satan" and all kinds of sidetracks like that. I'm fully aware that God is not the God of this world, but he is the God of my world, which is His kingdom. While it can probably be useful sometimes to know how the devil operates, some of us actually get more busy with satan and what he does, than God. That's when the alarm rings for me.

"Fear not!" is repeated throughout the bible. Satan can only lie and trick people, and I think one of the most effective lies he's told is that we need to look for him. If anything, being versed in demonology and all that is for mature, experienced believers, not the infants that the vast majority of us are.

I don't care if satan holds the power of death. Jesus has overcome it, his life transcends death. The forces of hell will not prevail against the church, so when the church fails, it's our responsibility, it's not merely the result of a successful demonic attack.
Remember how Goliath won over all those people - he scared them. Nobody actually fought him. He made them look at his size and armour instead of the God of Israel. David didn't have to worry about how Goliath would fight. He could just trust God and take his word for it.

The devil wants our attention so he can continue to do his work. I have found that concentrating on God will

1) Cut short the devil's attack and send him running
2) Give me a positive focus, yet keep me aware to what the enemy might want to do next.

C.S. Lewis wrote that there are two ways to fall about the devils: To pay no attention to them, and to take an unhealthy interest in them.

Well if you don't believe in satan (which many of my Christian friends don't) then any impuse you feel spiritually is automaticly thought of as God. From the other posts I gather that we DO need to keep our eyes open for satan. But I never think about him 24/7 like I do with God, but knowing he's there is the only way to tell weather it's him putting thoughts in your head or God. We do this by looking in the Bible, correct?

Think about the parable that Jesus taught about the sowing of the seeds:

luke 8:12Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

It shows that satan can come along and take the word of God, and with that, it leaves you doubting it's true.

All I have to say is that yes he does attack believers. I just got back from an 8 day missions trip where 72 kids got saved and let me tell you he attacked us left and right. But remember that he is just trying to inhibit us cause we are here to spread the Word and he has to try and stop us. Take pride in the fact that he attacks us because we are a threat to him. Remember [BIBLE]Psalm 118:24[/BIBLE] So whenever he attacks rejioce cause he is afraid of what the Lord may use us for.

I think he keeps putting thoughts in my ehad that Heaven is not all its cracked up to be. I keep getting thoughts of, how can it be so good, will it not eventuall turn boring after a while. I just have to say to myself, I would rather spend eternity in this boring place( which I know it wont be, but he is making it out to be), than in hell burning in the sulfur lake.

Yes to all your questions. We must build up our faith, this is a day to day process. We build by believing what the word of God say. Read His promises and believe them. THEY ARE TRUE!

Eph. 6:10-20

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
