Satan Getting Desperate

It seems with new movies coming out that are strictly dedicated to horror, hell, violence and mutilation there is no more sense of decency and moral responsibility.

It's come to the point where movies like Drag Me to Hell etc. are almost like Satan's last resort. Now it probably isn't, but it really is becoming more and more evident that he is desperate to steal people away from God through fear, horror and blood-lust.

These kinds of movies seem to be worldwide and garnishing much attention.

I hate to think of what the future holds in this industry.

It has nothing to do with Satan merely man's need for catharsis or blood-lust. I personally dislike violence in films if t doesn't have a point but those who love violence in films are usually not violent people or those who wish the world was more violent.

I think Satan's stance on these movies is neither here nor there. Personally I don't care for movies such as this, nor do I particularly like the main actress. I prefer horror movies that are more mentally capable and not just 'run or die' or 'why is this happening to me/us'. Something akin to 'Darkness Falls', but actually decent.

Similar note, saw a preview for the movie 'Orphan'. ...Why are little girls so scary?!

Yes, I dislike this type of film also. My idea of a great horror film are films such as 'Vargtimmen' by Ingmar Bergman and 'Kaidan' by Kobayashi Masaki.

And little girls are scary in horror films because they are something you wouldn't expect. Actually humans fear the unexpected which is all that horror is; unusual situations.

I love horror/thriller movies and I'm not a violent person and it certainly doesn't drag me away from God.

I think some of these movies are insane. They're completely bogus because they outright ignore the truth lol. All you have to do in any of the horror scenes is call out on the name of the Lord and Satan would have to flee. But oh well, I guess these are movies that portray non-believers.

Yeah the comedies that just came out, the gerbil movie coming out, Pixar's Up and other movies really say horror to me. /sarcasm

Exactly. Also one man's truth is another man's lie. As a Christian the OP thinks that calling out Jesus's name would save the characters from evil but as a Buddhist I think that meditation or painting the Heart Sutra* on your body is better protection.

Also, these films are just viction so I would worry about Satan yourselves. Infact my understanding of Christianity implies that Jesus defeated Satan.

*Which is actually done in the film adaptation of teh Japanese legend of 'Mimi-Nashi-Hoichi' in the film 'Kaidan' by Kobayashi Masaki.

IT's not as if these movies were intended to suggest anything of the sort. They're not how-to instructions on dealing with reality - they are completely fictional. THAT'S THE POINT!

I agree with the creator of this thread.. Satan is going after our minds through these movies. Did God not tell us to keep our thoughts captive to be like Christ? If you are watching a movie you are thinking about it as it goes into your mind. And if you say "I'm not thinking about it" then what would be the point of watching a movie? Also it's not only by thought but by picture.

Philippians 4:8 tells us to "fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable."
That doesn't say "with the exception of entertainment reading or motion pictures".

There's always a moral panic about some thing or another, followed by people forgetting/growing apathetic. It's the way of the world.

Movies are a form of art, and the purpose of art is to portray all aspects of life, whether it is postive or negative.

how retarded must a person be to become influenced by a film, and a bad one, enough to let satan get his/her mind? aren't there more important things to "blame" than forgettable movies and secular music?
