salvation army people...I have a question.

He I am laughing at my sister because she's talking about little kids who are ghosts, and she believes in this stuff. I told her that little kids go to heaven, they don't wander around "confussed" of where they're sopposed to go.
What do you all think?

Hmmmmm....I gotta porblem with this one.

I'm a Christian, and as such I shouldn't believe in ghosts. Trouble is I've seen one, so how do I square the circle?
I say it was a spirit, spirits exist. Also, there are such things a demons, and maybe they come to try to change your faith and beliefs....maybe

Without telling the story, and I don't think this is the right place for that, I can confirm that it was the ghost of an elderly ladies husband.

I take the line that there are a great many things that God has not yet made clear to us, and this is one of them.

It is true that we 'look through the glass darkly' , and also that the human mind is a big mystery too. Dont think I would disagree with Stefania though. Quite right to tell the children that their 'spirits' aren't wandering children. I think I believe children go straight to heaven.

I'v actually seen a child in my room when we lived in another house. I was freaked out, but even though anyone would have thought that this child was a ghost, I chose not to think that way...because I know that there are many things out there that try to test our faith. So basically, if it isn't mentioned in the bible, there's no reason for me to believe in it.

I have seen and sensed 'things' many a time but, as Andy said, this isn't the place for sharing it. My thinking on this whole area is that there is a great deal that we don't know about the spiritual realm.
I can agree with that.

I didn't know you all were an actual church, I thought you were just a general Christian Charity. Please, tell me a little about your denomination.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, may God bless you all. Amen.:crossrc:

We seem to have digressed slightly. Perhaps we should head back towards the OP a little.

Any questions from non Salvationists, feel free to post here, and between us we'll do our best to answer them.

I'd like to have a question, because I'd love to learn more about this salvation army thing.
I'll think of a question.......................................................................
Are your beliefs based entirely on the bible?

You tell me... :D

Doctrine of the Salvation Army
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.

We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship.

We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.

We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man.

We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience, they lost their purity and happiness, and that in consequence of their fall, all men have become sinners, totally depraved, and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.

We believe that repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation.

We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself.

We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.

We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified, and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the immortality of the soul, the resurrection of the body, in the general judgement at the end of the world, in the eternal happiness of the righteous, and in the endless punishment of the wicked.

The Shield is a defender.

Be careful how you interpret the scripture. Who the "devil" is depends on ones perspective in the world.

Radical Islamists misinterpret their holy scripture and speak of killing the devil as well . . . its just in our case, the US occupiers are considered the devil.

Refer to your minister, rabbi, etc. and stop guessing because misinterpretation of Holy Scriptures cause wars, death and destruction.

Read the article and begin to think how different your interpretations are compared to those of other cultures and religions. Be a critical thinker and think only of love and life not hatred and death. God above all is Love!

Islamic Rulings On Warfare

Youssef H. Aboul-Enein and Sherifa Zuhur

October 2004

Foreward

The United States, no doubt, will be involved in the Middle East for many decades. To be sure, settling the Israeli-Palestinian dispute or alleviating poverty could help to stem the tides of Islamic radicalism and anti-American sentiment. But on an ideological level, we must confront a specific interpretation of Islamic law, history, and scripture that is a danger to both the United States and its allies. To win that ideological war, we must understand the sources of both Islamic radicalism and liberalism. We need to comprehend more thoroughly the ways in which militants misinterpret and pervert Islamic scripture. Al-Qaeda has produced its own group of spokespersons who attempt to provide religious legitimacy to the nihilism they preach. Many frequently quote from the Quran and hadith (the Prophet Muhammad's sayings and deeds) in a biased manner to draw justification for their cause.

Lieutenant Commander Youssef Aboul-Enein and Dr. Sherifa Zuhur delve into the Quran and hadith to articulate a means by which Islamic militancy can be countered ideologically, drawing many of their insights from these and other classical Islamic texts. In so doing, they expose contradictions and alternative approaches in the core principles that groups like al-Qaeda espouse. The authors have found that proper use of Islamic scripture actually discredits the tactics of al-Qaeda and other jihadist organizations. This monograph provides a basis for encouraging our Muslim allies to challenge the theology supported by Islamic militants. Seeds of doubt planted in the minds of suicide bombers might dissuade them from carrying out their missions. The Strategic Studies Institute is pleased to offer this study of Islamic rulings on warfare to the national defense community as an effort to contribute to the ongoing debate over how to defeat Islamic militancy.
