  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ah blemmonds, thankyou. I have finally realised that you are incapable of accepting that anything you say is incorrect. Even the most simple proof of error cant find a way into your reasoning.
That made absolutely no sense. Maybe you would like the opportunity to rephrase it.

What a sad commentary. Sadder yet is that a whole bunch of 'em are trying to take over Bush's job

What's Bush's job?

Remember that he was voted for by less than 1% of the worlds population (and less than (insert small number here)% of the US population.)

If you want to know the truth about the Saddam Hussein Regime and the number of civilians they have killed apart from war and sanctions, all you have to do is check it out for yourself. Human Rights Watch which has been very critical of the U.S lead invasion and occupation has authored these essays. If your are interested in more than rhetoric just take some time and click on a few of these links. You will find out that yes, Saddam was the largest mass murder of Muslims in history, but that aside, he executed between 300,000 and 400,000 human beings. Factor his wars and starvation tactics, the number swells to 3 million.

“For years, Human Rights Watch has advocated justice for past crimes of the Iraqi leadership. During Ba'ath Party rule, that leadership perpetrated crimes including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, torture, "disappearances," and summary and arbitrary executions. In the genocidal 1988 "Anfal" campaign, more than 100,000 Kurds were trucked to remote sites and executed. In the 1980s, the Iraqi government forcefully expelled over half a million Shi'a to Iran after separating out and imprisoning an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 Shi'a men and boys, most of whom remain unaccounted for. Since the late 1970s, at least 290,000 people "disappeared" in Iraq.” -- Human Rights Watch

“Eye gouging, electric shock and acid baths are but a few of the ways used by Saddam's regime. According to the twelve page report by Foreign & Commonwealth Office of London that summarizes the "human cost of Saddam's policies".

"Would like to help, really would, but you owe Europe collectively 80 billion dollars and that's not good fiscal policy."

'Whats wrong with you President Bush! It's going to cost Europe 80 billion, and it is going to cost your country 150 billion, on top of that gas prices will sky rocket. Haven't you learned anything from History you stupid religious texas methodist... wars are suppose to be profitable!'

Save muslims you say? A billion more where they came from, haven't you been to paris lately? We are going to be flooded now. It's hard enough denying them citizenship as it is.

So alonesoldier when you said saddam killed 3 million you actually mean 400,000. ok thanks for clarifying.

The starvations were due to UN sanctions

The war with Iran was supported by the US.

True, he was an evil man, but lets stick to the facts. You cant just pin 3 million on him.

According to to whom you? Human rights groups inside of Iraq are claiming that he executed 1 million and amnesty International is calling it at 500,000. I most certainly can pin the war on Iran and Kuwait on him. Those were war's he started. Another million and a half. Starvation was self imposed. Iraq recieved 15 billion dollars a year to feed it's people with, Saddam kept this from them. Iraq recieved tons of medical aid from the United States, saddam gave it to his military to keep in storage. The number is actually over 3 million depending on your source.

funny how the most powerful free world nation cant afford basic things like health and education, but a poor little country like cuba, with strangling trade embargos can. Kinda makes a joke of the "greatest country on the planet" dont you?

I love being tag teamed by you two, I can take it with one hand behind my back.

You should take your hand out from behind your back and use it to open some books and read about our country. What you will discover is that we are not a Socialist country so it is not a matter of affording it. it's a matter of whether or not it is apprpriate for the gov't to subsidize healthcare under our Constitution. The answer is no.

Goes to show how much you know. It is against the law for any hospital to refuse service to anyone based on their ability to pay in the United States. No one is going without basic healthcare. People going without "basic healthcare" is a lie perpetrated by the lefties.

The Clintons made an attempt to socialize medicine in the United States. This would have effectively made the some of the wealthiest people in our country, physicians, employees of the government. The government would have been able to dictate the amount of money that a doctor or a hospital could charge for services. This is a "slippery slope" that the American people were not willing to go down. Let's face it. I don't want the government to start deciding WHO should and should not receive healthcare based on the cost effectiveness of their situation. That is exactly what we would have eventually been looking at. The whole premise was anti-American. It isn't how we do things in this country. It makes me laugh when people criticize the US healthcare system yet when something high tech and dramatic needs to be done, they all come running to the United States.

EXAMPLE:

Doctors begin surgery to separate Egyptian conjoined twins

http://www.cnn.com/2003/HEALTH/10/11/egyptian.twins.ap/

I guess you need to untie your other hand and go back to the drawing board. ^_^
