Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Now, if this passage gives us the "complete truth" about the Sabbath Command, then how are those who live on the opposite side of the earth from Israel to discern whether our observance of "THE Seventh Day" preceeds or follows that in Israel?

Depending on where the date line is established, "Sundown Friday evening in Israel" can either be "sunrise Friday morning in North America" (if the seventh day occurs first in Israel) or "sunrise Saturday morning in North America" (if the seventh day occurs first in North America).

The timezone doesn't determine whether the command is binding or not.

As to location, the timing of Sabbath observance is relative. As to law, it's absolute.

It's the principle that counts. Whenever the 7th day begins wherever you are, that's the time that you are to give to God in observing the Sabbath command.

Incidentally, it makes no difference whether people from on the other side of the world know that you're keeping the Sabbath day holy. Don't worry about what they think. What matters is that you honor God by keeping it holy. You aren't keeping it holy for people, but for God.

Moreover, God isn't confined to any part of the world. He knows who is and isn't keeping the Sabbath day holy. And He also knows why people are observing the day; and why people aren't. He can read our hearts as an open book.

No one is so out of reach from God that he isn't obligated to keep God's commands; nor could the deeds of anyone escape God's attention. For, He is everywhere.

When do you celebrate New Year's Day? The day before or the day after the other side of the world? The answer is the same for your question. You observe the day when the time applies to you.
