I don't mess my part of the house up to begin with. I also don't have to worry about being an accomplice to breaking the Sabbath by having people visit me on that day who drive cars through traffic lights that require electric company employees and policemen and ambulance services to be on call on Saturday.
As for taking his name in vain, I fail to see why you would infer that of anyone here on CF.... I don't see people wanting to denigrate God regardless of a commandment to not do so, just as we don't see people who are truly trying to love their neighbor going around insulting their neighbor in that effect.

I have control only over my own little territory--I am not the dictator of this city, state, or country!! So--you could say, I am master only of my own home and not the utility company--and I share that home with my unbelieving husband!

And you're the one that said if I can't work on the sabbath than I am a slave to that commandment--so I am saying that by your example, if you do not take His name in vain you are a slave to that commandment--whether you believe in them or not! Makes just as much sense to me. No insult--that's in you own mind--If I wanted to insult anyone, there would be no doubt!!

Ummm.... I'm not married I have a roommate and I don't have permission to clean his room anytime I wish we have areas of the house that are ours to do with as we please and shared areas and that is just how it is nothing about Jewishness in it all.

It is true you are a slave to it because when it comes down to a desire to work on that day you cannot do it you have to bow to the commandment instead. I'm not a slave to a commandment to not keep the Lord's name in vain at all. I don't have to set aside a day to do or not do it like you do as the Sabbath so it is not a good substitute or on the same level as keeping the Sabbath. One cannot compare a ceremonial obligation to a moral one they just do not compare properly.

Sorry about the burn, done that plenty of times cold water on it immediately does just as well for the most part I have scars from welding in the past myself.

Did mankind always have clocks or watches? How did mankind differentiate between the days of the week without a clock with a long hand and short hand?

Observe dark moons or new moons. Just because you refuse to honor torah doesn't mean that your clock or watch won't obey torah so you would know the times and seasons.

It sounds like to me that Jesus was downplaying the Sabbath saying instead of man serving it, it was supposed to serve man. The only way it could serve man is to give him rest when he needs it and the Saturday Sabbath doesn't always do that.

What is this? The Saturday Sabbath suppose to do something? Is it not how we act on that day and not what the day does?
