Because I was replying to a post by an SDA member. Although many are under the impression that their obedience to the Law can save a person, few are so open to state as the SDA do. In all cases, they are in very serious error.
Many Christians say they don't have to keep any commandment, because law is abolished and Jesus kept them for them.Changed midstream from keeping the commandments to being saved by obedience to the Law.
No one yet , not you, not all the others claiming that someone said they could be saved by keeping the law,
has
quoted anyone who said they could be saved by keeping the law.
As far as keeping the commandments - most all of the Christians on this forum , well, a lot of them, it seems, (I've read many posts, and no, not quoting them here - it gets too close to breaking the tOS),
all say they keep the commandments.
Isn't that strange ?
Some say they keep 10 commandments like MOSES and the ISRAELITES and the APOSTLES and the DISCIPLES did.
Some say they keep 2 commandments (but don't prove that either) .....
Some say they keep 9 commandments.....
Some say they are saved by keeping 2 commandments (I think - I wasn't watching or counting the posts, just in passing)....
So men have mixed it all up, eh!?
There is only one Church established by Christ. It came to be called the Catholic Church by the end of the first century. It is still called the Catholic church. It began at Pentecost. All baptized Christians are part of this church; some are in complete communion because they are not in schism, and some are in incomplete communion because they are in schism (such as Protestants), but all baptized Christians are in communion with this one and only Catholic Church which Christ established.
Actually, the SDA does not come remotely close to keeping the Sabbath holy as clearly and explicitely set out in the Pentateuch. They do not completely rest on the Sabbath and they routinely kindle fires in their kitchens, their furnace, and automobiles.
The SDA is proud of keeping the Ten Commandments and some of the dietary commandments, but as for the others, the SDA has written them off completely.
Look on the TITLE page.I looked through the bible and can't find the word Catholic in it.
Given population estimates for the time period, apparently entire countries had their populations wiped out. Fox's book is propaganda. It is not a reliable source.Fox's book of Martyrs estimates millions killed during the Dark Ages.
So what? EO churches and Old Catholics and other churches incorporate the term into their legal titles, too, just as still more have done with Apostolic and Holy. Yet, you probably think that your church is part of the One, Holy, Catholic, & Apostolic Church no less these. Is this Bob?
How many times do I have to inform this forum that the Church of the Bible was called the Catholic Church by the end of the first century?
Maybe in the commentary sections of the Catholic bible.Look on the TITLE page.
Or Preface. / Contents page.
For better or for worse, it is often there.
If Bubonic plague is blamed for 25-50 millions deaths over 200 years, Europe definitely had enough population.Given population estimates for the time period, apparently entire countries had their populations wiped out. Fox's book is propaganda. It is not a reliable source.
He claimed Jesus founded the Catholic Church that it existed since the day of Pentecost.Yeh. I have no idea what he was thinking when posting that in post #85.
I'm not Catholic. It seems like anything short of a papal imprimatur, it's not reliable. Not even the Bible is authoritative enough.
That isn't what I was referring to. Did he not say that the word Catholic is on the title page of the Bible, etc.?He claimed Jesus founded the Catholic Church that it existed since the day of Pentecost.

I think you're telling me that the post I referred to was said tongue-in-cheek. Apologies for not catching it.OF the catholic published bible - one of the most common printed.
No worries - no cheek either - I won't have one of the ones published for the catholics in my home - it has been a long long time since I ever saw one , and I'm not sure which page it says "catholic" , but it does somewhere.I think you're telling me that the post I referred to was said tongue-in-cheek. Apologies for not catching it.
Oh I thought you were messianic.OF the catholic published bible - one of the most common printed.
Y'all got me mixed up with someone else: we Anabaptists as far as I know and have always found to be true,
believing the BIBLE and following JESUS,
were always persecuted and put to death by Protestants and Catholics.
(Catholics started it, of course)
An act of perfect contrition will forgive a mortal sin even if one has not gone to a priest. Can sins be forgiven except through confession to a Catholic priest?
Is it not a mortal sin to wilfully and knowlingly absent one from attending Catholic mass at least once a week?
I disagree. Any time you break bread, it is the Lord's Supper.Breaking bread may not be. But breaking bread after Sabbath sundown (Saturday evening) in a Jewish setting is Havdalah service. Go to an orthodox Jewish home. They are still doing the same thing.
I answered all of this. Scroll back. You are quite mistaken about this 4th Century stuff. Reference the Didache, Ignatius, et al.Where in the scriptures say the Lord's Day is sunday?
The Apostles were Jews and kept Sabbath holy. The changed to Sunday was not instituted until the 4th century by pope Sylvester.
