Rules for disputes within TAW?

I'm not very active member of TAW but I have some suggestions. Don't you think that we should define what to do with "intraorthodox" disputes? I think we have three possibilities:

- forbid all disputes on any topic (Chalcedon, ecumenism, tollhouses etc. etc.)

- forbid some topics (about non-Chalcedonians, for example)

- allow dusputes under some restrictions

I'd suggest to allow dusputes with such rules:

1. Speak only in neutral way. No emotional exclamations, name-calling etc.

2. Any controversial statement should be made with arguments.

3. No critique of the contemporary hierarchs and theologians. Only theological doctrines and questions of church history should be discussed.

4. No interdenominational debates. Only explanation of the Orthodox view on other faiths and their differences with Orthodoxy.

5. Each dusputes should be led in a thread dedicated to it in order not to turn normal threads into constant offtopic.

What do you think about this?

I see how that would certainly cut down on some problems. But it may be too many rules to be able to mod.

OK, these are just ideas, not demands. But I think #3 is important.

I don't think weighing this forum down with rules is needed.
Common sense and respect should be used, and the rules that are now in effect. We ALL have been guilty of going too far, myself included.

It would be ridiculous to limit everything.....

I offered you both a private and a public apology for what I said, yet you still seem to bring it up?

I may be wrong, but I think the Antiochians also teach FORGIVENESS.
I know the Savior did.

I did see a public apology to Matrona.

If issues still remain, please work them out privately, with respect and Christian love, recalling the image that dwells in the one that you are addressing.

I think we should all be respectful to one another, and I hope we don't need a rule to spell that out

I do think we might need a carefully thought out rule that addresses discussion of what appears to be a volatile issue among some of us.
