How common is it for Orthodox to pray the rosary? If they do, do they include the fourth glorious mystery (the Assumption) or do they meditate on the Dormition instead?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's not very common, though some in the Western Rite of Orthodoxy do pray the rosary. I'm pretty sure they have a few differences, but unfortunately I am not very familiar with it. sorry, didn't realise
No worries. For the record though, the version of the Catholic Rosary does have elements that we disagree with.
All4Christ, if you don't mind going into this a little more, which elements do the Orthodox object to?
Thank you.
The heart and likeness to Christ ARE what make one a Christian ...i am starting to feel that the heart and attitude like Christ etc is what makes one a christian, not the building or label
What you said is what I've heard - not that it was a major concern of mine either since no one uses a rosary in our parish and I know very little about it.Looking at it, I think the primary part is just what you posted earlier - meditating on the dormition vs assumption. The other part would be that we are to avoid visualization or affective piety during the meditations. I'm going to tag @ArmyMatt to see if he can give any more insight. I'm a convert from a Pentecostal Church, so my knowledge is rather cursory on the subject(I've focused more on the Jesus Prayer with the prayer rope rather than the rosary myself.)

We believe in the Assumption, just that it was preceded by the Dormition as well. How common is it for Orthodox to pray the rosary? If they do, do they include the fourth glorious mystery (the Assumption) or do they meditate on the Dormition instead?
