You might want to check out the further definition of "Imperialist"...

Webster's New International Dictionary (1934)
[definition #2/imperialism]

"The policy, practice, or advocacy of seeking, or acquiescing in, the extension of the control, dominioon, or empire of a nation..."

Pat Buchanan has written some interesting stuff talking about how US has become an imperialistic nation, and less the republic it was designed to be.

Check out the def. One doesn't have to stick another star on the flag to control a nation. US is hardly an isolationist nation.

The United States has a lot of control over what Canada does. Maybe you could look into what Eisenhower did in the 50s regarding cultural infilltration. The United States is spreading their cutlure and beliefs throughout the world. They also have a lot of control over certain areas of the globe.

I highly doubt that the United States is going to militaritly take over Canada. They don't need too, they already have a lot of control over our economy. As well, Canada is not exactly a threatening nation.

Well west Germany was our 51st state then Italy our 52nd and a few months later Japan became our 53rd.
Bwaaaaahahahahahah! ^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^
Whenever the west has been threatened we have been called to duty. Never in the history of the world has a nation that has taken their enemy came in and fed its peoples and rebuilt its economy. Why we have rebuilt the economies of France, Italy, Germany and Japan to the point that today theirs rival our own.
Now contrast that with the economies of North Korea, Vietnam and Cuba. Nations where we had to leave because we did not have the will to do the necessary job of winning and removing visious, violent dictators. Many lives have been lost to these regiems because of our slackness. :(
Oh If you still think that this was the character of ancient Rome? Then you need to visit Massadah. Jerusalem was in ruin for generations before its people recoverd enough to rebuild it without Rome's blessing. Infact it was way into the 20th century before Jerusalem even had a sustainable economy.

Ya'll realy need to get a grip. Instead of critizing the US you need to pray for her. :groupray:

There are also many cultural parallels between the US and Rome. When Rome was in decline, artistic expression became much more hedonistic and less inspirational (Need I point to some of the "stuff" called art in America today?) Further, the Roman people became more and more obsessed with both Sport and leisure activities, as well as vicarious violence, were less and less inclined to fight in order to defend themselves, they became fixated on entitlements - the dole (i.e. welfare), as society declined, the people blamed that decline on the Christians . . . . sound familiar at all??
