ok I'll try and explain how things work around here:
first there are 3 actual RPG forums: Christia, New Worlds and Movies & Books.
Christia is the main one that people here at CF have made up, theres a background information thread with info about geography, map, races etc. Then there are a few different sub-forums which are regions in Christia. In those sub-forums are RPGs that are set in that area.

New Worlds where anyone can make up their own RPG world, about anything.

Movies & Books is pretty self-explanatory, it's where people can make RPGs based on movies & books, or tv shows or whatever.

So those are the RPG forums. Then there's the OOC and Character forums.

These forums are to help avoid all the non-RPG clutter that gets into RPG threads, like OOC posts and character profiles, which make the RPG much harder to read and disrupt the flow of the thread.

OOC: this is the place for OOC threads for specific RPGs for discussion about that RPG. Most will be helpfully titled OOC: (Insert Name of RPG Here) :) It doesn't matter what RPG forum it's in, the OOC thread for it goes here.

Characters: This is where you post your character profile. Once you've done that you just link to it from your first IC post in the RPG thread.

OK, to join an RPG: What you should do is either post in the OOC thread (if there is one) or PM the creator of the thread to see if you can join. This is especially important if there appears to be a bigger plot or storyline going on. That way everyone can work out a way of inserting your character without confusion. Then to join all you do is start posting in the RPG thread :)

I would suggest having a look through the different forums and have a read of some different RPGs going on to find one you think might be interesting. See whether you like the style and writing of the other people involved, and whether they have a similar level of RPG-writing ability. While this isn't necessary, it can save a lot of frustration on both sides. But if you see one you want to join, talk to the creator don't hold back because you think you're not good enough!

Anyway I hope that helped, it was pretty long...
