How would that even be relevant? Why would an atheist, someone without religion bring something they do not have into politics.
Well, to make the RNC and DNC more atheist friendly, it would be best to not have any opening prayers for any RNC or DNC convention. As a Christian, I try not to force my religion on others.

Where were you in all the threads about prayers in school or civic building or ten commandments, et al? From an outside observer it seems the issue here is that it's a non-Christian prayer. Not a prayer per se.

Hello folks. Today's news is very dark, but is important for Christians and atheists alike, and goes to show how both parties have corruption. The Republican National Convention had an opening prayer by Dhillon to an ancient entity, a false god named Waheguru today on July 17, 2024. Prayers for those who are misled by the world. Makes me wanna vote for the American Solidarity party, a centrist, Christian party which is pro-life and pro-environment, and it does not force religion on others. For reference, I was never a Republican, and have moved closer to the center from the left over the past few years, and especially over the past few months.

Source:

Opening "prayer" to ancient demon: "Dear Waheguru, our one true God, we thank you for creating America as a unique haven on this Earth, where all people are free to worship according to their faith. We seek your blessings and guidance for our beloved country. Please bless our people with wisdom as they vote for the upcoming election and please bless with humility, honesty, skill and integrity all those who conduct the election".

Info about Waheguru: Beliefs about God - Waheguru (God) and authority - Edexcel - GCSE Religious Studies Revision - Edexcel - BBC Bitesize

American Solidarity party: American Solidarity Party - Wikipedia

No - nothing dark going on. First - the US is not a Christian Nation and secondly, those of other religions are not our enemies - in fact God referred to them as precious fruit of the earth.
At least until the elections are over anyway, and then it's "deportation time", and "go back to your own country you brown-skins", or any other skin/ethnicity/religion except for white-skins, etc.

God Bless.
And God bless you also.

As the son of a LEGAL immigrant who happens to be one of those 'brown skins' you refer to - I take great exception to people not of my race, using my race for political brownie points. (If you are 'brown skinned' then the following is not directed at you)

What you are doing is appropriating some type of feigned offence for an entire people group when it cannot be farther from the truth.

By the numbers: 42% of Latino adults surveyed said they support building a wall or fence along the entire U.S.–Mexico border. That's a 12-point jump from December 2021.

  • 38% support sending all undocumented immigrants in the U.S. back to their country of origin — up from 28% in 2021.
  • In addition, 64% of Latinos said they support giving the president the authority to shut U.S. borders if there are too many immigrants trying to enter the country. It was the first time the survey asked this question.
So first - I would respectfully ask that you get your facts straight before you spout off on something. Secondly, if you are not 'brown skinned' (man I hate that racist trope), please stop appropriating another's race for political one upmanship.

I understand. So, how do we make the precious fruit of the earth grow into healthy fruits? Is there a way to convert others, without forcing our Christianity on others? It saddens me that so many people do not accept the Gospel, or Christians as a whole.

Also, you are brown as well. :) Woo, that is awesome. I am brown, as in part Romani ethnicity, adopted from Bulgaria around 23 years ago. Are you Latino?

The OP is important for atheists, to remind folks that religion should stay out of political conventions.
Atheists will learn no lesson, though; you don‘t want religion mixed in with politics becuase sometimes you’ll end up with the “wrong sort” of religion, which is why you started this thread, innit?

It is important for Christians, as it shows how Christianity is on the decline, and we Christians must try to help others, show empathy, and eventually spread the Gospel, after showing kindness through our actions.
American Christians seemingly want the Vindictive Christ though, how many long for “the end times” and “judgement day”?

That don’t bode well for atheists neither.

One’s own religion makes sense because one forces oneself to believe it to be so.
Atheists eschew theistic religions because if Someone is in total control, then that Someone is doing a very poor job, it's like there’s Nobody there at all!
We humans are all we’ve got, let’s count upon one another, for a change?

Yeah, American Christians do not represent all Christians. I am a Christian in America, but long for peace. Yeah, I regret saying those harsh things about Sikhism, cos I have never met a Sikh person before. Post 27 talks about how I began regretting to say these harsh things, cos a guy named Arjun Singh is a Sikh who helps those in need. I also began regretting my OP in post 128.

As a Christian, I do think that many Christians use God as an excuse to be lazy, and not help others. However, we could tell those Christians to open up their Bibles, cos the Bible clearly commands Christians to stand up for the oppressed. The Bible tells us to support each other. Seems that many Christians forgot the words of Jesus in Matthew 19.

Matthew 19:20-21 (NIV): "Jesus answered, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’"

Isaiah 1:17 (NIV): "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."

I tend to agree with most of that. Except I'd like to see Israel flatten Gaza and rebuild as part of Israel. Offer safe passage to the people there to Jordan first of course. But they'd have to do it in the dead of night, since Jordan already had their turn with "palestinians", and it didn't go well for them.
And, of course, the Palestinians don't want to be Jordanians, either.

Thank you. Also, welcome to the Catholic faith, sister. Yeah, Sonski is a good guy. Yeah, no politician has a perfect position on Ukraine, but he has good positions on the other issues. When did you become Catholic, if I may ask? I became Catholic in 2022, after my parents did in 2019, cos I was hesitant at first cos the bread turning into flesh sounded fake, until learning about Eucharistic miracles.

Devotional about Eucharistic Miracles with Psalm 111:2. :)

I became Catholic in about 2000 but then went back to the Methodist church till around 2020.

I am glad that you went back to the Catholic church. The Methodist church has changed a lot in the past few years.

Yep, that looks > 50 stars. Looks like someone used AI for the artwork. Meanwhile, I use AI for making devotionals and explaining complex topics. Right now, the private, offline AI on my computer is consuming US Law, and dozens of open-access legal book PDFs. Over 20 million words consumed so far. So, if anyone here asks legal questions about either candidate, hopefully, the AI can quote some law. Though, based upon the slow rate of consumption, it would take a few days for the AI to "learn" the laws, cos I uploaded the legal books onto the AI around 21 hours ago.

Yeah. I use Jordan because that was actually part of Palestine. Gaza (and the west bank) is just Israel giving up "land for peace", which, on October 7th, they finally abandoned as their peace plan. I expect the west bank to be next. And jordan can have "their" "Palastinians" back.

Where'd you get this piece of propaganda?

In 1922, there was no "Jewish Palestine" it was just Palestine, or "Mandate Palestine" under the control of the British. It also never included the Golan Heights which was part of French Syria. That orange bit was just called the Emerate of Trans-Jordan. Later a partition plan would be put forward to split Mandate Palestine into Jewish and Arab states.

Agreed. I found a map of the 1920s Levant, and it has different borders. The color coded mess below is a bit confusing.

That is a map of the Arab Kingdom of Syria which lasted for 4 months in early 1920 before it was vanquished by the French in the Franco-Syrian War. We'll note that the red bit in the lower left is not called "Jewish Palestine".
Wow, so the map changed in a matter of four months? So, by 1922, the borders in the Levant have changed from the January 1920 borders? That is a very quick shift of borders. No wonder why there is so much instability in the Middle East, cos the borders keep on getting remade.
