Hello folks. Today's news is very dark, but is important for Christians and atheists alike, and goes to show how both parties have corruption. The Republican National Convention had an opening prayer by Dhillon to an ancient entity, a false god named Waheguru today on July 17, 2024. Prayers for those who are misled by the world. Makes me wanna vote for the American Solidarity party, a centrist, Christian party which is pro-life and pro-environment, and it does not force religion on others. For reference, I was never a Republican, and have moved closer to the center from the left over the past few years, and especially over the past few months.

That is understandable, plus Sikh folks are nice people. I may feel uncomfortable with foreign prayers to gods beside YHWH, but as a Christian, I am not here to judge others.

I am not sure what a good solution would be. For now, to appease everybody, keeping prayers outside of conventions would be the best bet.

A lot of places in the South had (after the post-war boom), oodles of money and built big community swimming pools that were run by municipalities and everyone of the correct color could visit them during the long, hot days of summer.

Then people of the incorrect color sued and won…so some of these communities decided that they didn’t need big, community swimming pools anymore since just anyone could use them.

A part of me regrets making the OP, cos I can be quick to judge. Lots of things appear demonic to me, such as Halloween, Musk, Lust Month, most politicians, the far-left, the far-right, Putin, Xi, North Korea, Big Oil, Big Pharma, prosperity gospel preachers, Kenneth Copeland, etc...

But, I do not want to judge others.

I am glad that the south is now integrated. As a brown guy, I am glad to be born right before 2000, and live in the North. But yes, I do see your point.

Hey, we are both at the same place in this. Religion/prayers in the government is similar to walking on a tight rope. Sometimes it is best to walk around the obstacle, instead of over it.

I sorta hate to hold yer feet to the fire but you acted in a reactionary fashion in creating this thread: there probably wouldn’t have been a thread discussing what prayers/ to whom at the RNC since most people assume that some sort of divine-invocation will “open” each day, this is the USA and these are Republicans…and in a Big Tent moment a minority religion was “allowed” to weigh in.

Bravo, sez I, if they insist on bringing religion into the political realm, at least they’re consistent with allowing less followed religions to have a place at the table too!

Yeah, we cool, bro. It is actually pretty cool how the Republicans allowed a person of another religion to speak at the RNC. As a centrist who is Christian, it just seemed bad why folks would pray to another God on TV, but this is out of my control. Plus hey, America has free speech, so banning that prayer would be banning free speech.
