And yet we haven’t had threads created about the opening prayers on other days of the convention...the difference being the prayer wasn’t going to the “correct god”.

Most of the time we cannot perceive our own hypocrisy, it has to be pointed out to us…that you’ve seemingly taken offense at this opening prayer alerts me to inform you that you might wanna do some introspection ?
I think he was pointing out the Republican Party isn’t as Christian as they claim

(I’m a moderate, emphasis on moderate, Republican)

I’d rather parties eschew identifying their collective’s choice of deities, it’s a political party, after all, and while it's fine that one’s religion inform one’s politics, it becomes problematic if the organization Is identified with reference to this (or that) religion. (Not in general, mind, but living under our present Constitutional constraints.)

That is one solution.

Personal I like the idea of always opening with differing religious communities traditions. I can see what they do and understanfnrhrm a bit more. It's certainly nor going to make me become bhai or whatever. It's just a curiosity.
I am not sure what a good solution would be. For now, to appease everybody, keeping prayers outside of conventions would be the best bet.

Now let's extend this thought to sessions of Congress, school board meetings, and municipal councils.
Yeah, this would take time for us to figure out. We just need to look at what schools were like a decade or two ago, and go back to those times. Less woke stuff, less religion forced on people.

I don't know why, if a Christian is not actively participating in such a prayer, it should be any issue. Let those who agree with her participate; let those who don't go about their business.
It just did not sit right with me that a prayer to some false god was made. That could invite unclean spirits into the airwaves, though I am not a theologian.

Remember, the prince of the air?

Ephesians 2:2 (NKJV): "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others."

Why is religion (of any sort) “allowed” to be part of a political party‘s ethos?
Why are Christian prayers at a Party’s National Convention “okay”, but prayers to other deities frowned upon?

I'm going to tell you how I feel about it, as a Roman Catholic and Christian:

I think it's fine to focus on the history of our country, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you want freedom to espouse your beliefs and prayers, fine, but keep in mind that others who do not necessarily agree with you are free to espouse their beliefs and prayers as well.

Were you not 'made alive'? or are you one of the 'sons of disobedience'? Then what do you have to fear? We use what we have in good conscience.

....and demonstrate some basic respect for people of other beliefs. I thought that was a core American value.

I followed through with your article, and then looking up the term itself: This is what that word means, according to several sources:

"Waheguru (Punjabi: ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, romanized: vāhigurū[note 1], pronunciation: [ʋaːɦɪɡuɾuː], literally meaning "Wow Guru",[1] figuratively translated to mean "Wonderful God" or "Wonderful Lord"[2][3]) is a term used in Sikhism to refer to God as described in Guru Granth Sahib.[4][5][6][7] It is the most common term to refer to God in modern Sikhism."

The prayer was this, according to this article:

"Dear Waheguru, our one true God, we thank you for creating America as a unique haven on this Earth, where all people are free to worship according to their faith. We seek your blessings and guidance for our beloved country. Please bless our people with wisdom as they vote for the upcoming election and please bless with humility, honesty, skill and integrity all those who conduct the election," she said after the prayer."

If the term means Wonderful God or Wonderful Lord, that's ok.
Is this the same god as the Abrahamic, or Christian God? Nowhere does Sikhism discuss God's Son, Jesus. So, how can a Sikh, Muslim, or non-Messianic Jew properly approach God without Jesus? One or more parts of the trinity are missing in these other religions.

John 14:6 (NIV): "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I was made alive in Christ. My fear is for others who are on a tenuous relationship with God, or who have not yet turned to Christ, that these false gods will turn these folks away from Jesus.

It sounds like you have an Evangelical or Fundamentalist view on Salvation. Are you influenced by Calvinist theology, maybe?

Has it occurred to you that, unlike Christianity, these other religions don't have a morbid fixation on sin?

OB
I do think some Christians over exaggerate on some sins, more than than other sins. Because, t
What do you think nonchristians and people who worship Waheguru feel when they are forced to pray to God?
I don't believe people should be forced to pray to any God. That's isn't in the Bible. Im fine if Christians and other religions have religion clubs at school. But I don't believe in forcing any religion on any one. And I'm like you , that should be good to people.

Hello folks. Today's news is very dark, but is important for Christians and atheists alike, and goes to show how both parties have corruption. The Republican National Convention had an opening prayer by Dhillon to an ancient entity, a false god named Waheguru today on July 17, 2024. Prayers for those who are misled by the world. Makes me wanna vote for the American Solidarity party, a centrist, Christian party which is pro-life and pro-environment, and it does not force religion on others. For reference, I was never a Republican, and have moved closer to the center from the left over the past few years, and especially over the past few months.

Source:

Opening "prayer" to ancient demon: "Dear Waheguru, our one true God, we thank you for creating America as a unique haven on this Earth, where all people are free to worship according to their faith. We seek your blessings and guidance for our beloved country. Please bless our people with wisdom as they vote for the upcoming election and please bless with humility, honesty, skill and integrity all those who conduct the election".

Info about Waheguru: Beliefs about God - Waheguru (God) and authority - Edexcel - GCSE Religious Studies Revision - Edexcel - BBC Bitesize

American Solidarity party: American Solidarity Party - Wikipedia

It’s my understanding that Waheguru is just the Sikh term for God…

No, simply by what the Bible itself says.....nothing more......nothing less......as I can see it......

Yeah, I doubt hearing a single prayer as an aside at a political convention is going to cause somebody to convert.
