A true Conservative or Liberal Christian would never pray to what they consider a fake God.They should be nice to all people. But not pray to what they think is false God's .How is prayer to the god of one religion different from a prayer to the god of your religion?
And, no, you don't get to say yours "is true".
Well, this is a wake up call to my fellow Republican friends, that no party is Christian.
I see your point. It would be uncomfortable if someone forced me to pray to another god. However, it feels uncomfortable for one to hear someone to go on live TV and pray to another god as well. So, it is best that the parties do not open with any prayer, to avoid alienating any religion. What do you think nonchristians and people who worship Waheguru feel when they are forced to pray to God?
Living in a pluralistic society means you gotta learn to get along with everyone not force yourself or beliefs on others because you don't like it when it happens to you.
This is empathy.
Yeah, we do know this. We should be very careful with opening prayers. Prayers from other religions bother me, and it makes me feel bad for our world. But yes, YHWH is the one true God. The opening part of the RNC could have been a speech about uniting religions instead of a prayer. We actually know this.
Political parties represent their constituents' - their voters' - wishes when making laws.
We have a framework for our government and our laws that comes from our Christian faith, it's an outline for our Christian worldview, but it doesn't represent God, God stands above and outside of that framework and is the Entity which gives us our inalienable rights which the government cannot infringe upon.
But over many lifetimes we have a constituency that wants to live in accordance with our values as outlined in our constitution as our friends and neighbors, but doesn't always share our faith.
Because the government is not there representing God but rather the constituents themselves, when there are benedictions given the attempt has always been made to be inclusive of the various beliefs held by the voters.
I do block my ears and don't listen to benedictions given by those of other faiths because it does bother me, it's not something I'm used to and when I don't know what people are saying I don't know if they are cursing me.
But I do know that making sure our countries invited guests feel like they are a welcome part of our country is important, and both sides of the aisle have tried to make everyone feel represented.... Even in the benedictions.
In the end, I know the God I worship is the only God. Any other spiritual entity has no power before my God so I and my country are perfectly safe even if they are cursing me.... That's really all I need to know.
Something Christians can all do when people of other faiths pray, is that we pray to our God at the same time against the forces of darkness and ignorance... It's quite beneficial if you're worried about curses and the like.
That is one solution.I see your point. It would be uncomfortable if someone forced me to pray to another god. However, it feels uncomfortable for one to hear someone to go on live TV and pray to another god as well. So, it is best that the parties do not open with any prayer, to avoid alienating any religion.
"YHWH is the one true God", is your belief. Not everyone shares it.Yeah, we do know this. We should be very careful with opening prayers. Prayers from other religions bother me, and it makes me feel bad for our world. But yes, YHWH is the one true God. The opening part of the RNC could have been a speech about uniting religions instead of a prayer.
Now let's extend this thought to sessions of Congress, school board meetings, and municipal councils.I see your point. It would be uncomfortable if someone forced me to pray to another god. However, it feels uncomfortable for one to hear someone to go on live TV and pray to another god as well. So, it is best that the parties do not open with any prayer, to avoid alienating any religion.
It made more sense than some posts I've seen here.Woah.
Get off the keyboard, rambot's cat!
I don't know why, if a Christian is not actively participating in such a prayer, it should be any issue. Let those who agree with her participate; let those who don't go about their business.Hello folks. Today's news is very dark, but is important for Christians and atheists alike, and goes to show how both parties have corruption. The Republican National Convention had an opening prayer by Dhillon to an ancient entity, a false god named Waheguru today on July 17, 2024. Prayers for those who are misled by the world. Makes me wanna vote for the American Solidarity party, a centrist, Christian party which is pro-life and pro-environment, and it does not force religion on others. For reference, I was never a Republican, and have moved closer to the center from the left over the past few years, and especially over the past few months.

Many of us have had a co-typist.That's impressive.

I understand this, and many Sikh folks are nice.
It is supposed to be our country's constitution that guides our nation not any one god. That choice is left up to the individual .... this was an example of the right to freedom of religion ... according to our constitution ... which is a good thing ... it's not representative of anything else ... nor does it mean Republicans are endorsing this belief.Hello folks. I agree and that’s fair.It is supposed to be our country's constitution that guides our nation not any one god. That choice is left up to the individual .... this was an example of the right to freedom of religion ... according to our constitution ... which is a good thing ... it's not representative of anything else ... nor does it mean Republicans are endorsing this belief.
RNC makes tiny effort to make tent bigger.
Onlookers: Demons!
I wasn't going to mention the gross comments by rightwing racists like Nick Fuentes, but... I guess now I am. Can't be worse than demonic invocations.
MAGA Makes Racist Attacks Against JD Vance's Wife
"Who is this guy, really?" Fuentes said on his podcast. "Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian(*) wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?"
Vincent James Foxx, who was present at the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, wrote on X: "JD Vance gets tapped as VP and immediately there's a Hindu(**) prayer at the RNC."
(*) Usha Vance is an American born to Indian immigrants
(**) Dhillon (and her prayer) is Sikh
I followed through with your article, and then looking up the term itself: This is what that word means, according to several sources:Hello folks. And yet we haven’t had threads created about the opening prayers on other days of the convention...the difference being the prayer wasn’t going to the “correct god”.Well, this is a wake up call to my fellow Republican friends, that no party is Christian. Many folks associate the Republicans for having a Christian moral ground, when in reality, no party has a Christian moral ground.
And hey, whatever works for you. If one is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh or Mormon, these folks have every right to believe in their own religion, as long as it is not forced onto us. For myself, I believe Jesus is the one true God. In our prayers as Christians (well as a Catholic), we pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the three parts of the Trinity. Jesus died for our sins as stated in John 3:16. None of these other gods died for our sins, nor have forgiveness on the level that Jesus does.
