• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have found writing stories is helping me heal from my ritual abuse. I like to write about people who have undergone extreme trauma and how God helps them survive. I have found that describing the characters pain helps me with my pain. I write often and have found that it soothes me some and allows me to live in the story and escape my own pain some. Does anyone else write fiction to help heal them of their traumas?

I prefer to keep myself within reality, so I write essays when I want to reasoning emotions. When emotions come too strongly, I enjoy studying Mathematics to sooth it. (Hence the dryness of my writing skills, probably.) After reading your post, I kept thinking: Wouldn't be even better if your writings gave emphases to the healing process, to the companionship of God through the character's ordeals, to explore the victim's relationship with God, etc.? Pain can be addictive too, so it may be risky to write about pain in order to sooth it. You may be prolonging it without even noticing it. My warmest hug goes to you.

Hi Hannah :) Thank you so much for your message. That is very true that I should give more emphases to the healing process in my writing and that it would be helpful to explore the victims relationship with God more. Some of my writings are in Writers Guild if you wanted to see them. :)
